The origins of many dishes are shrouded in its long history of more than three thousand years and in the reciprocal influences involved in that history. Eating habits and products from ancient Greece, Rome and many Asian and Mediterranean cultures have influenced and are affected by this unique cuisine. It has borrowed spices, styles and recipes from India and has in turn influenced Indian food, a

nd there are many dishes that are shared by both Iranians and Turks. Persian cooking can be identified by its sumptuous rice dishes, its intriguing and delicate flavours, its combination of herbs, saffron and various fruits. Traditionally, Iranian meals are served on the sofreh, a cotton cover embroidered with prayers and poems, which is spread over a Persian carpet or table. The main dishes are surrounded with bread and a number of small bowls and relish dishes filled with appetizers and condiments. Shawarma restaurant aims to bring its guests an authentic taste of Persian food and culture, and we hope we enjoy your dining experience with us.
