WORLD BARTENDER DAY

Reminded of this annual celebration of drinksmiths by my good friends and . I've been very fortunate over the years to have shared a bar with some of the finest bartenders around, many of whom are now plying their trade in cities across the UK, and indeed the world. I feel blessed to have known so many talented individuals, I could be forgiven for thinking that I have lived through a truly golden era in the history of cocktails.

This industry is truly like no other. Here's to all the bar teams pulling AFDs, all-nighters, back-to-backs and split shifts across the world. 🥂 🍾

🦩 New City Centre Events Space :: Tropicalismo

We've (officially) launched our new events space on Langstane Place. Inspired by the mid-century chic of the many opulent hotels that lined the beautiful beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro, TROPICALISMO is the newest venue by 10 Dollar Shake.

Our exclusive, intimate venue is suitable for a wide range of corporate and private soirees including drinks receptions, wine and spirit tastings, pre/post-dinner drinks with friends or colleagues, art exhibitions, seminars and presentations. Best of all, it only holds a maximum of 20 so you can keep the guestlist elite...!

TROPICALISMO joins The Tippling House and another latest addition, Ninety-Nine, in our growing family of venues.

12 years since the very first ‘Great Enchanted Tiki-Off’ with the bartenders of Aberdeen. Some of these faces in this photo have gone onto to hit global acclaim in the drinks industry and when I look back on old photos, it amazes me how much great talent this city has produced.

The 2023 edition takes place this Sunday at with . Hopefully no reptiles will be making a guest appearance this time round… 🐍

We make drinks, and we run bars/restaurants, which makes providing our drinksmith services to weddings a natural extension of our brand. We're very fortunate to work with a number of highly-rated partners, including Country Flavours of Alford, Fasque Castle and Glen Tanar, in addition to being on the preferred supplier list for many of the North-East's premiere wedding venues.

Last year, we worked a record number of weddings, and boy were those weddings incredible. We're going to highlight a few of these over the coming weeks/month, starting with Amber & Ryan's destination wedding at Drumtochty Castle (as seen here on the Green Wedding Shoes blog).

Amber and Ryan are both based in the USA and one of the first things that struck us about them was Amber's wonderful vision for the wedding itself (Amber is an actress and director so this came naturally) and Ryan's passion for classic cocktails and drink culture in general. This made for a very fun challenge in meeting their expectations of both the style and conceptual element of the drinks to be served. The drink pictured in this blog post (from the highly-acclaimed Green Wedding Shoes) was tweaked from a drink we originally created for The Isle of Harris Distillery's gin. It's composed of gin, oleo citrate, gorse flower essence and a heather tea mist in the form of a cloud bubble.
