SWCP Chesil Beach Cafe serves seafood & more on the Jurassic Coast, just down the hill from Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens. Our secret hidden gem of a beach café is tucked away on the world famous Chesil coastline. A stones throw from Abbotsbury and on the stunning South West Coast Path. Taken over by Sally of Sally’s Fish Camp in May 2024, we offer a menu of seafood specials and traditional favourites with outdoor seating or to takeaway. All deliciously fresh, seasonal and sourced locally. From daily artisan pastries through to local Portland crab sandwiches! Chesil Beach Café has one of the few access points to the Chesil banks by foot, car & pony! There is a sturdy, easy access boardwalk from the car park to the beach, of which is dog friendly too. There is plenty of parking (currently £1ph) and 24hr toilet facilities. A short walk away from the café is the Chesil bank fleet lagoon nature reserve, Abbotsbury Swannery, St Catherine's Chapel (famous for its amazing views), Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens and known locally as the ‘Dragons Teeth’ - anti tank traps that remain from WW2 and are a go to spot for sea anglers. Take in the sea air, the stunning landscape and coastline. We would love for you to join us, or why not take away our food for a memorable picnic on the beach. Fully Licensed, we have a mouthwatering selection of alcoholic drinks, from local ciders to w**e, chosen to perfectly pair with our menu and available to take away up onto the beach. Just remember to pack your deck chair! Or we’d love it just as much if you joined us alfresco style in our sheltered seating area at the cafè. Keep an eye on our events calendar throughout the year - tickets sell fast! Party / Table / Group bookings welcomed for 8 people or more.

Breakfast just got even better… 🍂 New on our Autumn Breakfast Menu!

Fresh shrooms, pan-fried in butter and thyme, served on toasted malted brown bread. Simple, comforting and full of autumn flavour.

The perfect way to start your day before an autumn walk along Chesil Beach!

📰 Did you spot us in last week’s Bridport News?

It was lovely to see the Chesil Heartbeat campaign featured in the local paper, helping raise awareness for bringing a community defibrillator to Chesil Beach.

The best part? Since then, we’ve officially reached (and gone beyond!) our fundraising goal. 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the campaign — our customers, Abbotsbury Beachcombers, Dorset Mutineers and everyone who donated or shared our story. This has been a real community effort, and we’re so grateful to every single person who helped make it happen. ❤️

Thank you, The Bridport and Lyme Regis News, for helping us spread the word and support such an important community project.

❤️ We Did It! £2,000+ Raised for Chesil Heartbeat ❤️

We have some incredible news… thanks to a very generous donation from Abbotsbury Beachcombers, we’ve now raised more than £2,000 for the Chesil Heartbeat campaign! 🎉

This means we’ve reached (and gone beyond!) our fundraising goal to help fit and maintain a community defibrillator at Chesil Beach Abbotsbury.

A huge thank you to Mike Miners and everyone at Abbotsbury Beachcombers for their amazing support. As a local community group, they do so much to raise money for charities and good causes in and around Abbotsbury, and we’re so grateful they’ve helped us cross the finish line.

From Sally Allan, James Irvine at Chesil First Aid Training, and Wayne Hand (The Shorehunter) — thank you to every single person who donated, shared our fundraiser, attended events - not forgetting the brilliant Dorset Mutineers , or supported us in any way. 💙 That’s a wrap… Fish Fry 2026 🐟🎶

What a way to finish the summer. 🌅

Our final Fish Fry of 2026 was everything we hoped for – delicious fish and chips, cold drinks flowing, vinyl spinning, dancing, laughter and so many familiar faces. It was the perfect send-off to another brilliant summer season at Chesil Beach Cafe.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us over the summer, whether you came to one Fish Fry or every single one. You’ve made Friday nights so special, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

And of course, thank you to DJ Chris Bailey for bringing the grooves and creating the best atmosphere to end the season. 🎵

We’ll miss our Friday Fish Fry evenings… but don’t worry – they’ll be back in 2027!

Until then, keep an eye on our page for everything else we’ve got coming up at the cafe. We’re open until October 31st Wed-Sun 9.30am to 4.30pm.
