As discussed in our conversation on Saturday … the memorial activities take place today 17 August starting at his tomb in the Gorges d’Alet 💔

📍Ce jour-là le capitaine américain Paul Swank, originaire du Missouri, a fait preuve d’héroïsme en tenant tête à une colonne allemande lors des combats pour la libération de l’Aude. Son acte de bravoure a permis de sauver de nombreuses vies parmi les résistants.
Sa tombe se trouve en bordure de la route nationale 118 avant Alet.

😎 Café ☕️ Quil'Langue will be open all day tomorrow, Saturday 15th August. The day starts with conversation with our native French speakers, over coffee ☕️ tea 🫖 cold drinks🥤with ice 🧊 🤗 and home made cake 🍰 (lemon 🍋 or ginger 🫚).
After marking the commemoration of the Liberation of Quillan on 17 August 1944 (10.30am) and buying some supplies at the market (Place Salengro) you can also join us to watch the junior cyclists 🚴 compete before the main race starts at 4.30pm and the professional and top notch amateur cyclists 🚴‍♀️ 🚴‍♀️ 🚴‍♀️ including many international stars 🤩 whizz past - 75 times 😳 - from our cool interior or our prime pavement location 🥸 with refreshments in hand 🍻 À demain 👋

😲Your gardener charges €20ph. Using the CESU+ system they receive €20 whilst in the tax and welfare system, insured and accruing state pension and ill health benefits. In the meantime, you only pay €17.87ph.
😎Sounds too good to be true? Well it isn't! It's called CESU+
If you haven't heard of this service, you're missing out!
It's a mechanism for paying for "services à la personne" (widely defined) making sure your service provider is
1. properly paid, officially and above board, no cash in hand or off the books work
2. their tax and social charges are paid in full
3. that they are insured whilst providing their services
4. that they accrue state and welfare benefits like other employed individuals AND
🥳EXCITINGLY🤩 that you as their "employer" do not have to pay the full costs of services rendered because a generous package of tax credits is available (whether you pay tax or not).
A number of people around Quillan offer their services for gardening, small DIY tasks, administrative assistance, shopping, cleaning, tutoring (any subject, any age), IT assistance, ironing, child care, meal preparation, dog walking (only for the elderly or infirm!) and many others ...
I have prepared detailed guidance on this service (it's all freely available online though-in French-if you want to check it all out for yourselves). I have also prepared a step by step guide with detailed screenshots at every stage to show people how to set up the service and pay their "employees.
If your service provider works less than 8 hours per month for you there is no need for a formal contract, and the amounts they agree to work or their rates of pay can change month to month (as long their wage is not below the minimum wage there are no restrictions on the rates charged). Of course, there's nothing to stop the individuals continuing to work on a self-employed basis, invoicing you for the work completed - but with this system both the service provider and their employer really are both better off!
