Art Graduate Programs | Master’s degree in Fine Arts
The University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne’s practice-based art programs offer a stimulating environment for intellectual exchange. Research in and through art fosters both imagination and problem-solving skills, while developing the intellectual tools necessary for a variety of careers in the art professions. About Our Graduate Fine Arts Programs:
Spaces, Places, Exhibitions, Networks, Art & Contemporary Creation, Art & Education, Art & International Creation (Sorbonne-New York University)
Students are encouraged to develop their technical abilities in painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital media, video, performance, printmaking, and installation, while participating in seminars that deal with the theoretical issues artists face today in a globalized world. Our programs combine theory and practice, giving students the fundamental skills necessary for rewarding arts careers as artists and art educators, art administrators, curators, art writers and consultants. Paris’s museums and galleries, from the Pompidou Center to the Palais de Tokyo, from the Jeu de Paume Gallery to the Louvre and the Orsay Museum, its historic architecture and its vibrant cultural scene from the Latin Quarter to the Marais galleries, from La Défense to the Mitterrand National Library are all part of the Sorbonne's campus, in addition to the university's own facilities: studios, libraries and exhibition spaces. Lecture courses and seminars help students situate their research in the context of the international art world, introducing them to critical and analytic methods with which to interpret contemporary artworks, their own and that of other artists. The course work, conducted in French, is completed by a program of visiting lectures given by key personalities in the art professions and the academic community. Students can also spend a semester in Germany, England, Italy, or the United States through our international exchange programs. We offer practice-based Master’s Degrees in Fine Arts, as well as Design, Media, Technology and Cinema and Audiovisual. Our programs may just be what you’ve been looking for.
