Happy 61st, Singapore from Paris . 🇸🇬🇫🇷
Twenty years ago, at a small European airport, an immigration officer didn’t recognise a Singapore passport. Someone behind us said: maybe you haven’t done much to put yourself on the map.
That line stuck 😅
Not because Singapore needed proving - but because there was always so much more to share.
A tiny red dot shaped by people, cultures, flavours and ideas moving through it, borrowing, adapting, making something its own - then happily sending it back out into the world.
And today, seeing Singaporean food, chefs, brands and ideas showing up in Paris, London, Berlin, New York, Mexico City and beyond?
That makes us proud.
Not because any of it belongs to one place alone. Food especially has always crossed borders around our part of the world. But there’s something pretty great about seeing this little island keep adding to the conversation.
Tiny red dot. But Big tables.
Happy National Day, Singapore. 💚
From our little corner of Paris, with pandan love
And with Indonesia and Malaysia celebrating this month too - August is only getting started. 🇮🇩🇲🇾
