WICM Womens International Club Méditerranée We offer friendship, mutual support and cultural exchange through our monthly meetings, group activities. "Building bridges, Jeter des ponts".

WICM Anglo-French club - Thursday October 15th
We will be very happy to welcome you on Thursday, October 15th for our Anglo French get-together, to be held at 10 am at the Calypso bar in Florensac, as usual. Come along and share lots of fun over coffee or whatever!

WICM - October visit - 16th October
Liz reports that for some time she has driven past a building with the sign - Parfums Marty near St. Thibéry and has always wanted to know more. So, for our October visit, we are going to find out!

They will do a guided visit of their premises; they make drinks and syrups as well as perfumes; on October 16th starting at 10.00.

The visit is open to friends and partners, and if we are more than 30, it's free, if we are less than that there will be a small fee - which I will confirm once we have the final total.

Please let Liz know by October 8th.

WICM October meeting
Just a little reminder of our next WICM meeting on Thursday October 8th at 14-30 in our usual place - Maison pour Tous, Florensac. Our speaker will be Ashley Adams, a TV Executive producer who, with her partner, bought a château near Bordeaux and renovated it; and she will tell us all about her experience. If you have ever seen the Channel 4 series it should be absolutely fascinating. Friends and partners welcome.

Here are the offerings in VO (English) for the week 23-29 September.
Two new films – the heart of the beast, with Brad Pitt – after crash landing in the Alaskan wilderness, he and his combat dog have to survive the elements; Avengers endgame extended- by 4 minutes on the 2019 film with new post credit teaser, so not strictly new. Sense and sensibility, The odyssey, resident evil, The invite, Les Contrabandiers (The Weight – good well paced thriller/drama), Pressure and The Dog Stars all continue. The golden oldies and Trainspotting and One flew over the cuckoo’s nest. Something for everyone.

WICM book group
The next book group will be held on Friday October 2 at 1000 and the book chosen is On Chapel Sands by Laura Cu***ng.
This has been suggested by Tricia Herbert and is a departure from her usual international themes, and instead is based in Chapel St Leonards near Skegness in Lincolnshire on the East coast of England. It is billed as a mystery but that mystery leads to research into her family and what can be termed a family memoir where the author discovers family secrets.

As usual everyone is welcome. It does help to have read the book! Hopefully the weather will be good enough to sit outside.
Tricia will be arranging lunch at the Padel club (the big green building) on the outskirts of the village. It apparently has a very good restaurant. https://www.puntacopadel34.com/copie-de-profs
