🎄 We’re delighted to announce our Christmas Day celebrations at Mad Hatters Kitchen!

This year, leave the cooking to us and enjoy Christmas as it should be a beautifully dressed table, delicious food, good company and no washing-up.

Join us on Friday 25th December, beginning with Ch*****ne and canapés at 12.30pm, before sitting down to a leisurely festive lunch from 1pm.

Start with a seafood buffet or charcuterie selection, soup, salads and antipasti, before the Christmas feast arrives: roast turkey with herb and sausage stuffing, roast beef and home-cured roasted ham with parsley sauce, accompanied by roast potatoes, fresh vegetables and all those much-loved Christmas trimmings.

Turkey, beef or ham? It’s Christmas you don’t have to choose! Enjoy your favourite or tuck into all three. There are no restrictions on portions: we’ll keep bringing the food until you’re comfortably full. Just remember to leave a little room for the courses still to come!

🧀 We’re hand-picking the best cheeses from around Europe for our Christmas cheeseboard, served with chutneys and bread. Have a hankering for Wensleydale with cranberries? We’ve got you covered, alongside the finest French and English cheeses. And if smoked Bavarian cheese is your guilty pleasure, we’ve got that sorted too.

Then indulge in homemade Christmas pudding, sherry trifle or rich chocolate and raspberry gateau. Ask nicely and we might even set the Christmas pudding alight although, sadly, there’ll be no sixpences hidden inside!

Liqueurs, coffee and a certain square mint chocolate rounds off a wonderfully leisurely Christmas feast.

✨ €75 per person, all inclusive as detailed on the attached menu including Ch*****ne on arrival, w**e with starters and a carafe of red, white or rosé with your main course. Soft drinks and alcohol-free 1664s are included too.

Vegetarian and vegan options are available on request, along with children’s menu prices.

Fresh haddock has landed at Mad Hatters Kitchen and tonight’s dinner is looking delicious! 🐟

Delivered fresh today, our haddock will be coated in our secret-recipe b**r batter, cooked until golden and crisp, and served with hand-cut chips and mushy peas. A proper Friday-night favourite, freshly cooked to order.

There’s plenty more to tempt you, too, including our home-aged, hand-cut sirloin steaks and thick-cut gammon steaks, freshly arrived from England, alongside our other delicious home-cooked options.

Leave the cooking to us tonight, settle in and enjoy a relaxed evening over good food.

🎩 MAD HATTERS KITCHEN A LITTLE BIT OF BISTRONOMIE! 🍷

Have you ever heard of Bistronomie?

It's a French culinary philosophy that began in the early 1990s, when a chef called Yves Camdeborde decided that exceptional food shouldn't be reserved for expensive, Michelin-starred restaurants.

His idea was wonderfully simple: take the care, skill and quality associated with fine dining, dispense with the formality, fuss and eye-watering prices, and serve genuinely excellent food in a relaxed, friendly bistro.

It was a little revolution in French dining, and in 2004 someone finally gave it a name: Bistronomie a combination of Bistrot and Gastronomie.

And although we didn't set out to follow a fashionable French culinary movement, when we discovered the story behind it, we realised something rather lovely.

It's pretty much what we've been trying to do at Mad Hatters Kitchen all along!

🍽️ Why is our menu relatively short and always changing?

Because we'd rather do a smaller number of dishes really well than offer pages and pages of choices.

We want the freedom to seek out the freshest, tastiest ingredients, take advantage of what's in season, and change our dishes whenever we find something particularly good.

We don't believe a menu should dictate what ingredients we buy. We believe the quality of the ingredients should help dictate what's on the menu.

🍅 Why do we cook everything fresh to order?

Because flavour matters.

Good food takes preparation, attention and care. We believe a meal should be cooked for the person who has ordered it, not simply reheated or pulled out of a packet.

And yes, that means that sometimes you might have to wait a little longer for your dinner.

We're not a fast-food restaurant, and we don't aspire to be one.

When you arrive, order your meal and settle down with a drink, we're cooking your food for you. We think that's worth a little patience, and we hope that when your plate arrives, you'll agree.

🥘 Why do we work so hard to keep our prices affordable?

Because we firmly believe that eating well should be one of life's simple pleasures, not an expensive luxury.

We want you to enjoy freshly prepared, delicious food, generous portions, good company and a welcoming atmosphere without worrying about an enormous bill at the end of the evening.

That's why we continue to offer:

1 course – €16.50
2 courses – €22.50
3 courses – €25.50

No unnecessary fuss. No pretension. Just a genuine commitment to quality, flavour and value for money.

❤️ It's not about being fancy. It's about caring.

Caring about what we buy, how we cook it, how it tastes and what it costs our customers.

We're certainly not claiming to be a Michelin-starred restaurant, nor do we want to be. We're simply a small, independent kitchen with a passion for good food and a belief that everyone deserves to eat well.

So perhaps there's a little more Bistronomie in our Mad Hatters philosophy than we ever realised.

And if the original idea was to make exceptional food more accessible, served with warmth, generosity and without all the fuss, well…

We reckon that's a rather good philosophy to live by.

Remembering Richie P who sadly passed away recently after a long and brave battle with a debilitating illness. Richie helped us with the Mad Hatters Wonderland Festival back when they were big events, he also was a great chef and kind friend, rest in peace Richie.
