For this evening’s tea we’re trying our first Sheng Pu’er, PANDA BAMBOO. The hand-roll tea ball, called Dragon Ball was so beautifully made that we can’t help but take a bunch of photos to show off its shape.
The liquor has a beautiful golden green colour. Bamboo is aptly named, for it reminded Whalie of the bamboo groves they loved playing in as a kid. Other notes we spotted were sweet longan with a touch of white flower aroma.
We tried to loosen up the ball with a rinse but maybe with too little time. Consequently, the first brew was lighter than we wanted. Later brews improved and we had an enjoyable tea session. Sheng Pu’er proved a little tricky for us inexperienced drinkers, as some infusions were strong and slightly bitter. We will definitely try it again and try to improve.
