Happy Monday from Debeka Farm! Our agronomy team is thrilled to see such healthy, densely clustered green coffee cherries developing on the trees. Because Debeka sits at an extreme elevation, these cherries will mature slowly to develop dense, complex sugars, eventually yielding the vibrant floral and stone fruit notes this farm is famous for.

We proudly awarded trophies and medals to our outstanding out-grower farmers for their exceptional farming practices and their unwavering, multi-year commitment to the Kerchanshe family.

Today, we celebrate the true backbone of Kerchanshe Coffee: our dedicated out-grower farmers. Bringing the finest Ethiopian coffee to the global market is a massive team effort, and we believe the artisans behind the beans must be rewarded for their exceptional craft.

We are proud to uplift our community by paying an extra financial premium per kilo of coffee they harvest. But our commitment does not stop at the harvest. We actively build essential infrastructure to ensure long-term prosperity and growth for the entire region.

For the final day of our tour, we were honored to host Carlos Mario Rodriguez and the Starbucks Agronomy team for a special coffee planting program at our Gibe Gesha farm.

Planting these seedlings side by side is more than just a ceremony; it is a powerful symbol of our shared commitment. The very plants going into the ground today are the result of our joint R&D efforts—designed to be climate-resilient, high-yielding, and rich in the unmatched flavor of Ethiopian Arabica.

Welcome to Gibe Farm! 🌿

The Kerchanshe team proudly welcomed Carlos Mario Rodriguez and the Starbucks Agronomy team to Gibe Farm—the latest and newest addition to our coffee estates!

It was a fantastic day with boots on the ground. We took a working walk through the new fields, exploring the expansive grounds and discussing the future of our crop. A major highlight was visiting the on-site seedling research center, where we are actively collaborating to test and develop the climate-resilient, high-quality varieties of tomorrow.
Expanding our farms means expanding our capacity for innovation. Seeing this joint research take shape at our newest property is a testament to what we can achieve together. 🤝☕

Seeing our joint R&D project come to life at the Debeka Farm nursery with the Starbucks Agronomy team has been a major highlight of their visit.

Our collaboration with Starbucks goes far beyond supply. Together, we are getting our hands in the soil to develop the next generation of coffee seedlings. This project—the only one of its kind currently happening in Ethiopia—focuses on developing varieties that can withstand global climate shifts while boosting production for our farmers.

We are so proud to show Carlos Mario Rodriguez and his team the tangible progress we are making right here at Kerchanshe. The future is looking green! 🌍
