Dear friends, we've opened again:
a new location and a new name. "Balkan Grill Kafana"!!! Traditional Serbian dishes and charcoal-grilled meats.

What is a kafana?

A Kafana (Tavern) in Serbia is not just a bar, but a living scene of tradition, socializing and emotions - a place where people sing, talk, grieve and celebrate.

The tavern is a special institution in Serbian society. It is much more than an ordinary restaurant - it is a symbol of gathering, friendship and free expression. Songs were created here, important life decisions were made, and even historical milestones were made here.

There is no hurry in the tavern. She learns that time is measured differently - through the sounds of a tambourine or harmonica, the smell of Plum Brandy (Slivovica ) and conversations that last well into the night.If there is a place that carries the soul of Serbia, it is a tavern. More than an ordinary bar or restaurant, a cafe is a cultural institution, a stage of life itself.
The story begins as far back as 1522, when the first tavern in Europe was opened in Belgrade, under the simple name "Question Mark" - a place that still exists today, as a living monument of tradition.
The tavern is never quiet.
Old town music, traditional town songs, accompanied by a tambourine or harmonica, invite everyone to sing, whether they know the words or not. On the tables - always covered with checkered tablecloths - is the essence of Serbian hospitality: meat from the charcoal grill, salads and traditional appetizers. A glass of Plum Brandi or local wine is never missing.Even today, the tavern are full of life. From Belgrade to the smallest towns and villages, they remain spaces where time slows down. They are the guardians of memories, laughter that echoes in the night, clinking glasses and sincere toasts.
The tavern is not just a ritual - it is a reflection of the Serbian spirit: warm, o open, filled with song and always ready to welcome another guest to the table.
