Since 1988, The Sands Bistro has been much more than a place to come for something delicious to eat. It has become a family — made up of familiar faces, loyal followers, holiday visitors, old friends and wonderful new ones still discovering us.
Dave and Karen appreciate every single person who has walked through the door, recommended The Sands to a friend, returned year after year or followed along from afar. You are the reason we are still here, doing what we love. 🧡
And one thing Karen has always believed is that everybody deserves to enjoy genuinely wonderful food.
Whether you eat gluten-free, live with coeliac disease, have an allergy or intolerance, follow a particular way of eating or simply know what makes your body feel its best, you should never be made to feel like a problem — or an afterthought.

People who love to eat are always the BEST PEOPLE! ♥️

Well… we might be just a little biased, but we think there’s quite a lot of truth in that. 😂
Because food has never really been just about the food, has it?
It’s about sitting around a table with people you enjoy.

Ordering something delicious.

Pinching a chip from somebody else’s plate. 😂

Catching up on all the news.

Laughing louder than you intended.

And somehow discovering that an hour or two has disappeared while nobody was looking.
That’s the bit of bistro life we love most.
We’ve been feeding people at The Sands Bistro since 1988, and over all those years, thousands of plates have come out of our kitchen — but it’s the people around the tables who have made our place what it is. ❤️
