🩷 The Torrevieja salt lagoon is famous for its unique pink color, a natural phenomenon that makes it one of the most striking landscapes in our area.

This pink hue isn't permanent year-round, it becomes more pronounced during the summer months.

The pink color is mainly due to the high salt concentration in the water, which encourages the growth of microorganisms, such as halobacteria and a type of algae called Dunaliella salina.

These species produce reddish pigments as protection against the intense solar radiation and extreme salinity.

In addition, small crustaceans like brine shrimp feed on these algae, also contributing to the lagoon's color.
