Our main event this session will feature :

“The Old Bushmills Distillery”

Founded in 1784, Bushmills is the oldest “licensed” distillery in the world …

Being the second biggest of the Irish distilleries after Middleton, Bushmills became a part of Irish Distllers Group in 1972. Irish Distllers were later (1988) purchased by Pernod Ricard who, in turn, sold Bushmill’s to Diageo in 2005. In 2014, Diageo took the market by surprise when they announced they were selling the distillery to the Tequila maker Casa Cuervo, producer of José Cuervo. The new owners applied for planning permission to expand the capacity and also to build another 29 warehouses over the next two decades on adjacent farmland. The local council gave the green light in 2019.

In late 2021 Alex Thomas became the new master blender for Bushmills. She has been with the company for almost 20 years and was responsible for the Sexton single malt which is now the best selling single malt in the USA.

Bushmills is the third most sold Irish Whiskey after Jameson and Tullamore D.E.W.

The core range of single malts consists of the following :

10 yr. old
16 yr. old Triple Wood with a finish in Port pipes
21 yr. old finished in Madeira casks for two years

Between October 2020 and 2022 a new range of releases appeared, The Rare Casks, The Causeway Collection, where a total of ten single malts, aged up to 30 years that had been finished in different casks were bottled at cask strength …

16 yr. old Triple wood with a finish in Port pipes
