Hello September.
Generally considered the start of a new season, where the evenings start to draw in a little (although at the moment we are still light here until around 8pm) and temperatures start to drop.
However in Lanzarote it still feels like Summer and this week's forecast is for another very warm week with sunny days and temperatures due to hit the early 30's deg C

In September there is the Festival of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores in Mancha Blanca.
This fiesta is a pilgrimage up to Mancha Blanca, that honours the patron saint of volcanoes, with pilgrims in traditional dress, traditional music and fireworks. Pilgrims walk to the shrine in the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores church in the centre of Mancha Blanca in the municipality of Tinajo.

Whilst the date for the fiesta is 15th September, the pilgrimage usually takes place on the Saturday closest to this date.
A Lanzarote Craft Fair is also held in Mancha Blanca from Thursday to Monday over that same weekend (10th to 14th September 2026)

Have a fabulous month whatever your plans

Happy Monday!

The last day of August and the temperatures this coming week are set to soar to the early 30's deg C heading towards the end of the week. According to the forecast we are in for another very warm week ahead.

For those of you who are getting the long awaited rains in the UK, we are sure your gardens are really in need of the water. However in Lanzarote we certainly don't have any rain in sight.

If you are here at the moment, please keep well hydrated and remember that sunscreen, it's hot out there

Have a great week

This coming Wednesday 12th August, we will be able to experience a solar eclipse in Lanzarote.

According to Wikipedia:
A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, and totally or partly obscures the view of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is larger than the Sun's, blocking all direct sunlight. The total eclipse will pass over the Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic Ocean, northern Spain and the extreme northeastern part of Portugal.

In Lanzarote we should be able to see a parcial eclipse, starting around 6.56pm in the West. Here's a link for a bit more information thanks to Nolita James who runs the Facebook group Lanzarote Waits for You. Click on the link below:

Welcome to August!

Just a reminder that there's lots of activities going on this next week in the old town harbour, as part of the Fiesta de Nuestra Señora del Carmen festivities. This fiesta is to honor the patron saint of Fishermen. Along with evening concerts and daily activities, there is a Fair that will run every evening until Sunday 9th August. The celebration includes a maritime procession of the Virgin Mary, taken from the church in the old town harbour, to the sea and then carried on a decorated boat accompanied by a flatilla of small boats, from the harbour, symbolizing her protection over seafarers. (this takes place at 11am on Saturday 8th August)
It also includes a procession of the statue along the oldest street, Calle Teide on the last Sunday of the event, (after mass in the church from 7pm on Sunday 9th August) where the statue is taken from the church along the street and back.
The fiesta finishes on Sunday 9th August with a firework display over the harbour at 11pm
Please be aware it can cause some disruption on parking in and around the old town during the period, especially over the weekends and in particular the last weekend of the events. There is currently no parking in the harbour area itself due to the fairground rides being set up.
For more information on the programme of events go over to the Lanzarote Information website, here's the link for the programme in English:

It's a vibrant event and a great cultural experience, so a great way to start August and your holiday if you are here on the island right now.

Enjoy the weekend

Fiesta de Nuestra Señora del Carmen 27th July until 9th August 2026.

One week today we'll see the official start of an annual event in the old town of Puerto del Carmen. It's a major fiesta, centred around the old town harbour so for anyone here at the end of July, the traditional Fiesta de Nuestra Señora del Carmen this year takes place from Monday 27th July until Sunday 9th August. There are various events, concerts and a fair in the harbour over the 2 week period.

It is to honor the patron saint of Fishermen. The celebration includes a maritime procession of the Virgin Mary, taken from the church in the old town harbour, to the sea and then carried on a decorated boat accompanied by a flatilla of small boats, from the harbour, symbolizing her protection over seafarers.
It also includes a procession of the statue along the oldest street, Calle Teide on the last Sunday of the event, taken from the church along the street and back.

The fiesta finishes on Sunday 9th August with a firework display over the harbour at 11pm

Please be aware it can cause some disruption with parking in and around the old town during the period, especially over the weekends and in particular the last weekend of the events.

It's a great cultural event and the harbour is buzzing, especially with the fair and also at the weekends with the late night concerts.
If you are holidaying on the island during that period, do go along and join in.
Enjoy!
