Okay so Celtic are back tomorrow against Shelbourne and we’ll have it on in the bar of course. Great to see the boys back, even if it is only pre-season, but I have to say, how are we sitting here in July with zero new signings? Oxlade-Chamberlain staying is good, I’m happy enough with that, but that’s not a new signing, that’s just keeping what we already had. Then you look around the league and Hearts have brought in 10, Aberdeen 8, Falkirk 8, Dundee United 7, Rangers 5, Kilmarnock 6, St Johnstone 6, St Mirren 4, Hibs 3, Motherwell 2 and Dundee 2. Celtic? Zero. We’re the champions, we should be strengthening from the front, not sitting around waiting until the last minute again. Anyway, football is back tomorrow and we’ll be watching it, but honestly, the board need to get the finger out. 🍀

Come on Spain 🇪🇸 Absolutely delighted with that result. Ireland will always be home, but after spending most of my life here in Spain, I have a massive soft spot for my adopted nation. Beating Portugal is never easy, so that’s a great result for Spain. They got the job done when it mattered, and hopefully now they can keep it going. Vamos España 🇪🇸

I can’t believe I stayed up for this game after all that delay, but to be fair, what a game it’s been. England 3 Mexico 2, and for me this is easily the best game of the tournament so far. Absolute madness from start to finish, goals, drama, Mexico throwing everything at them, England hanging on, this is what the World Cup is all about.

Full-time, Brazil 1 Norway 2, and even with the last-minute penalty, I have to say it, that is without doubt the worst Brazil team I’ve ever seen in my life. I’ve always been a massive fan of Brazil, always loved watching them over the years because of the unbelievable players they’ve had, but this team just doesn’t look like Brazil at all. I know it sounds harsh, but there’s not many amazing players in that team by the looks of it. Fair play to Norway though, no complaints there, they fully deserved it, and Haaland is just an absolute animal. Brazil are out, Norway are through, and to be honest, seeing Brazil like that is actually sad.

Open from 12 today folks, and we’ve a cracking day lined up in the Famous Bar 67. Full food menu available, all the sport on the screens, starting with Cork v Galway in the hurling semi-final at 3:30. Then Canada v Morocco at 6, followed by Paraguay v France at 10. And while all that’s going on, the live music kicks off from 9 with The Lonesome Boatman, followed by Caoimhín. Sport, food, pints and live Irish music all day and night. Hope to see you all in.

Whatever happens now at the end of this Cape Verde v Argentina match, fair play to Cape Verde.

Some heart from them, honestly. You look at some of the so called bigger football nations in this World Cup and they don’t show half the fight Cape Verde have shown here.

For such a small nation to be standing toe to toe with Argentina is absolutely unbelievable.

And a special shout out to Pico Lopes from Dublin as well. What a story that is. Amazing stuff.
