Yesterday was our first day back after the holiday.
Every time we return, we’re reminded how lucky we are.
Our customers don’t just come back for coffee—they come back like old friends who genuinely care about how we’ve been.
Some walked in asking, “How was your holiday?”
Others caught us up on everything that had happened around the neighborhood while we were away.
One lovely elderly lady, whom we’d been thinking about, proudly showed us the scar from her recent surgery—she’s such a fighter.
Someone even brought a colleague over just because they knew we were back, so they could finally get their SANTOS.
Another customer quietly handed us some homemade food, smiled, and simply said, “Eat it while it’s hot. Welcome back.”
Some people hardly went downstairs during the month we were away. Some were more upset than we were about the way the city council has been treating us. Others sent us photos of the café every few days, just to let us know everything was fine and give us peace of mind while we were away.
And then there was one gentleman who quietly watered the flowers on our terrace for the entire month. He didn’t even mention it until we returned, casually bringing it up as if it were nothing at all.
What touches us most isn’t how many people came back to buy coffee. It’s knowing how much they care about us, and feeling the kindness and appreciation they have for us as a couple.
The greatest reward of running a neighborhood café isn’t just serving coffee—it’s watching customers become friends, and sharing a little piece of life together.
CARIHUELA is more than just our workplace. It’s home because of all of you. ❤️
