CAN I ASK YOU ALL TO COPY AND PASTE MY POST AND SHARE IT ON YOUR OWN PAGES TO HIGHLIGHT THE ISSUES FACED IN OUR CALA DOR....
So we are all going through tough times .. praying for our normal lifes to return so we can go on our holidays again...
I'm really concerned about the news I've read.. so many of our favourite restaurants and bars simply wont make it through this awful time.
We are due to arrive end of August.. if we are allowed to travel will there be the bars and restaurants that we know? From what I've read no??

If the Spanish government does not respond and set up a special aid program for the Balearic Islands, this will mean that a large number of shops and restaurants will go bankrupt.
Mallorca in particular is facing a huge economic collapse.
It's looking likely that Cala d'ors endless pubs and restaurants simply wont exist anymore. 😔
If the Spanish government does not respond to the many calls for help and comments then we will loose the places we love to enjoy a meal or drink in.

Pretty much everyone in Mallorca lives directly or indirectly from tourism.

From what ive read aid programs for workers is being provided However, the owners of the restaurants and bars have been left completely alone.

Times are hard for everyone but the one thing we all him in common on this group is our love for Cala dor. We are all hoping we can return soon but the reality is when we do our favourite establishments could be borded up😪
There appears to be no special plans for seasonal companies which run April to October. Most companies have been closed since October 2019 and have no income, so much worse than the UK. How can anyone survive with no income for that long with no end in site.

If tourism ceases to exist this year or there is only a small season from August, then according to government statements, 80% of the companies dependent on seasonal operations would not be able to sustain themselves financially. ‌The season ends again at the end of October, even if extended until November the winter is coming, so the owners of our fave places will be without income until April 2021...
18 months without any income?? ‌A financial disaster for several small and medium-sized companies. ‌
I belive it is legally forbidden to file for bankruptcy during the shutdown (beginning March 15, expected extension after April 26 to May 10) and 6 months after. ‌
Can that being right ??? ‌
I was amazed to see that companies are legally obliged to recruit the workers of the previous year for the next 6 months and to guarantee them 6 months of work. ‌ That i believe would mean paying them for 6 months when only potentially working for 2 months with the owners not having an income!!

There are No interest-free or low-interest bank loans for companies ‌like we are offered in the UK.
That means an immeasurably bad end for many years to come. ‌The economic downfall of this wonderful holiday island is therefore inevitable.
This is so wrong, mallorca government must make so much money from tourism why are they not helping the businesses as without them Cala dor will not be the same.

We do not want our favorite places with their many pubs and restaurants to be destroyed.😱😭 ‌
All the apartment owners that rent out to holiday makers will suffer if the appeal of nice places to eat and drink is taken away.

I'm sorry for the long post but I've been visiting this town for 35 years, ive lived and worked in Cala dor and it holds a special place in my heart and from what I see on this group yours as well.

In hoping I've got it wrong, but from what I've read I dont think so..
The Mallorcan/Spanish government should be ashamed of themselves.

Please please get behind our fave bars and restaurants and support them. Any ideas on how we can support their fight for help???
