If you are in Sweden and you stop by a candy store you will find entire walls are filled with chocolate, sour gummies, fruity gummies, fruity favourites and, of course, salty licorice - ready for you to create your perfect mix.

This colourful tradition has its roots in the 1950s, when health authorities recommended eating sweets just once a week. Sedes took the advice... and turned it into lördagsgodis, or Saturday candy - a weekend ritual that has stuck around for generations.

So grab a bag, pick a few Swedish favourites and take a little taste of Sweden home with you.
