This lovely gent on our terrace tonight with his beautiful daughter.
He asked me, "Are you Siobhan? Damian's sister?"
Stopped in my tracks... YES I Am!!!! and then the chat and reminiscing that went on for ages 💚🤍🧡
Huge Welcome Shane & Roisin Kellaghan.
My late brother Damian and Shane were on that Great Offaly Minor Team of 1989.
I'm only appreciating Damian's achievements through other people's memories.
Shane enlightened me tonight that he initially played against Damian, when Damian kitted out for Kildare!
So, Damian could play for Kildare as we went to school in Kilcock, but we actually lived over the border in Meath, Kilcloon.
So in turn Damian played for Meath for a shortime then.
In 1987 we all moved to my Dad's hometown of Edenderry and Damian got a transfer to play for Offaly.
My brother played for three Counties.
Feeling very emotional, but super proud tonight.
Thanks Shane and Roisin for making the effort for calling to see me ###
RIP to my amazing brother Damian who died suddenly (SAD) 4th April 2019 aged 47 💔

We are gonna take a break 🤭
August is a slightly different month on The Costa for hospitality in Irish Bars.
Irish and English don't come down as much as it's too hot 🥵
Alot of Spanish come here from other parts of Spain. They like Spanish Bars.
So, we are not too busy....
So we will close up on Sunday after regular hours and then from Monday 24th to Friday 28th, reopening Saturday 29th.
Another few reasons too....
A big shout out to our Chef Jay, big 50 on Monday, Happy Birthday Jayo ###
Queen Janine, celebrating her brothers wedding in Portugal.
Mike, visiting his Family in Poland.
And, Siobhan, going back home to see her Mam for the week.
Jody needs a break too, zip lining or maybe on a yacht 😉😘
Hope to see you all in September!!!

Latest Update
We have lift off!!!
For now, the shutter has been fixed temporarily. A huge shout out to our builders for working so hard the last few days.
So, we will open the bar tomorrow, Sunday at 3pm.
Today and tomorrow morning will be spent cleaning 🙄
It will be bar only until Tuesday as the kitchen will need to be restocked.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
Thanks to all of you who called and sent messages of support.
Very much appreciated.

Update!
Our builders have been working very hard last two days to get this all sorted.
There is alot of work to be done reinforcing walls etc.
They have assured all is going to plan and will give a time frame this evening or tomorrow when we can reopen.
Thank you all for your kind messages and support the last few days. Much appreciated. Its been very stressful 😪

Not good news folks!
We will be unable to open for the next few days!
Our shutter derailed yesterday causing alot of structural damage.
It now has to be all repaired and unfortunately during the month of August here in Spain, most businesses are on holidays.
We will keep you posted as to what is happening soon.
Sincere apologies and sorry for the inconvenience.

Real OMG moment recently seeing this beautiful family and dear friends walk into the bar.
I really had no clue ye guys were on the way.
Welcome Jo-Ann and Sarah-Michelle at Shamrock Bar - Scanlons - Benalmadena
No better women to help to give a dig out behind a bar. It's in your blood.
Myself and Jo-Ann McCormack have been really good friends going years back and so happy to reunite here on The Costa for fun times.
PS Jo-Ann, Lexie says hello to my dear friend who looks like Penelope Cruz 🥰

Thanks so much to John and Carmel Mallen for calling to see us recently.
Very emotional 💖
John and Carmel are great friends of my late Dad and my Mam.
Dad and Mam fell in love with Spain years ago, spending alot of time at John and Carmel's home from home here.
A move to Spain was on the cards then for Dad and Mam, but unfortunately that didn't happen due to Dad's untimely passing.
I am now living their dream here on The Costa 🇪🇸

Huge Shamrock Welcome to our new Team Member, Lachlan Greig ☘

Lachlan is from Aghada, Co Cork.

I met Lachlan at our bar during the recent Cork/Offaly Game, got chatting and enticed him to join our crew.
Maybe feeling sorry for me after Cork hammering Offaly he agreed to come on board. Every cloud has a silver lining 😉
So, with Lachlan now part of the gang, we have decided to open 7 days and not close on Monday's.
For now, we will operate "bar only" on Monday's. Kitchen will remain closed, it will be drinks only.
Looking forward to seeing you all and welcoming Lachlan to the bar.

Super turnout today, as always for the matches.
Packed bar and Terrace. No seats free!!!
What else can ya do for the GAA fans who want to watch the games!?!
Chef Jay's car was parked out front bringing in deliveries.
"Leave it there Jay and pop the boot"

We will have the craic and banter.
