Ziryab is essentially a wine and tapas bar, where the tapas are fusion tapas. It takes dishes from tra

ditional Spanish tapas and enhances them with a culinary twist; sometimes it takes a traditional Arabic “Mezze” – which is the Arab equivalent of tapas – and adds extra flavours to suit Barcelona’s climate, such as the refreshing Minty Hummous. At other times, it blends ingredients from other areas (Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, North Africa...) to create new dishes that are not usually found on Barcelona’s streets but maintain the same concept enjoyed by so many in this city – ordering a selection of varied plates to share between friends and accompany with good wine. Located in a charming medieval tavern with a lot of history.

This week is International Sign Language Week!
As you will know, Ziryab is an inclusive restaurant where half of our staff are profoundly deaf. It is a space where we welcome all people, races, religions, genders, capabilities and abilities, as well as all kinds of personality quirkinesses! The only people we would rather not come through our doors are people with intolerance and hate. The world is a better and richer place with diversity and respect.

This is Marisol, she is our waitress from Mexico. For the month that includes both international women’s day and Sign Language Week, she says:

« I honour all those ago have fought for our rights and continue to fight today.

I am Deaf.
