The one with the DQ & open solo
Standing on that start line Saturday for my pro race I felt mentally in a good place. Que the sled push that’s where everything fell apart. After this everything was a blur and I completely zoned out. To this day I don’t really know how I missed the sled pull, which to me is embarrassing. I didn’t realise what had happened until I came into wall balls. At that moment I wanted to walk off, as I felt like I cheated myself. At first I was contemplating taking a patch as I didn’t think it was deserved but then I said to myself “ I didn’t walk off when it got dark and I certainly didn’t throw in the towel when it got hard”.
To race in them conditions was not just hard but medically unsafe for myself & everyone.
Few hours later I told myself I can’t leave Tenerife with not actually completing the race.
Once I heard there was a spare open women’s solo going for the Sunday. I convinced myself to get back on that start line.
24hrs later
I found myself back on that start line, but not one moment did I talk myself out of it. The aim for this race was to just go out there and have fun. That’s what I done.
Not every race can be a PB, but some races are meant to make you feel proud. That’s how I felt by the end of the weekend
Coming top 7 in age category was the icing on the 🧁
Feeling very humbled, but my body the moment is another story 🤣
Thanks to everyone at Next Level Liverpool and Kirsty for showing your support. Really appreciate it.
Time to sign off and have some well deserved rest.
