Yep, we got flooded again! 🙈 We weren't quite expecting such high tides until December, but I guess we can't ever be sure what's happening with the sea levels these days. Luckily there was no damage, just lots of rocks, sand and water to clear out which we're used to now, and a bit of TV reporting for Figu 😁 so we're happy to announce that algo diferente and escuela de surf figu are back open for business as usual 😀 with some interesting new items for sale, made from reused plastic packaging - doing what we can to reduce the plastic waste ❤🌍

What an honour to be among the nominees for "The Most Ecological Business in Mompiche" award at this year's annual festival. What an inspirational idea and brilliant incentive for all businesses to move towards a plastic free future. How wonderful how many nominees there are too - Mompiche is way ahead of many places when it comes to protecting this planet 💚❤🌍

This year, at the Fiestas de Mompiche - 20-23 September 2019 - A special award will be presented.

Nominations are open until 19 September if anyone would like to nominate a local business not yet on this list. Add your nominations in the comments for consideration!

The focus is on local eateries and the criteria to win includes businesses that DO NOT use single-use plastics including straws, cups, plates, cutlery, plastic and styrofoam take-out containers, bottles and plastic bags. Businesses will be judged on their sustainable practices by a panel of eco-warriors.

I'm sorry to announce that Algo Diferente will not be reopening today after all. It's nothing serious, just a tiny blip as I totally forgot that I'd have to leave the fridge freezer standing for some hours after being delivered 😳 (my fault for being too eager to reopen!) I also only found out this morning that it won't be arriving until about 5pm tonight. Oops 😊 So, Algo Diferente will officially be reopening tomorrow, Saturday 31st August (All being well and I haven't forgotten any other major factors!!) ❤

It's been a while, but....... I'm excited to announce that Algo Diferente will be open for business once again tomorrow!! 😁 (just waiting on the delivery of my new fridge freezer 🙏)
There's not going to be an official 'opening party' as such because I had enough of them last season - but everyone is welcome to pop by tomorrow (Friday 30th August) and check out the new fridge, and maybe have a beer 😉 Looking forward to seeing and serving everyone this season ❤

This really is getting to be a bit of a joke ... the fridge has finally given up after surviving the storms and floodings over the last 2 months. The repair guy said it was probably the sea water that got in back in December which has been wearing away the motor ever since. All falafels were safely moved to the house 😊 but I'm sad to report that, once again, algo diferente is closed until further notice 😕

I've not posted here for a while so thought I'd put an update - there's been quite a few changes here. After the December high tide destroying the cafe, we rebuilt and reopened, just in time to get flooded again by the rains ☔ For the January high tide we were ready and moved everything out to safety. We've now reopened again this week (going for the Guinness book of records on how many times we can do this 😉). We have a slightly different look but still the same amazing sunset view (and yummy falafel and humus) 😍 🌄🌈

Es otro día gris y llovizna en Mompiche ... así que qué más hay que hacer, sino llegar a algo diferente y disfrutar de un café o té de hierbas, algunos deliciosos alimentos veganos o dulces, o simplemente tomarse las cosas con calma y pasar el día descansando con algunas de nuestras actividades relajantes 😊 todo mientras disfruta de la increíble vista al mar ❤

It's another grey, drizzley day in Mompiche... so what else is there to do but come to algo diferente and enjoy a fresh coffee or herbal tea, some delicious vegan food or sweet treats, or just take it easy and spend the day chilling with some of our our relaxing activities 😊 all while enjoying the amazing sea view ❤

I've tried changing the opening hours on this page 3 times now but it seems Facebook doesn't wasn't me to - so this is my final attempt 😊 As the cafe is still new and I'm working alone, I'm still trying to figure how it will work, so apologies for any inconvenience x

The cafe is going to be closed today, tomorrow and Sunday. I'll be open again on Monday 👍 hope this doesn't disappoint too many people 😊 x

Today's new additions....arrived to open up this morning and some lovely person had added some beautiful shells and stones to the cafe entrance....no idea who it was but what a lovely little surprise 😊 We also now have a hammock with a view of the point, which I'm sure is going to be one of our most popular seats in the house 😊 love this place more every day ❤
