It all started with a "quick beach day." You know, just a few hours at Sosua Beach, a couple rum punches, and some sun. Fast forward 9 hours, we looked like overcooked shrimp, half-sandy, sunburned, and still somehow drinking.
After the beach, someone yelled, “Let’s hit Ground Zero tonight!” And because nobody wanted to be that person, we all nodded like this was a logical next step, despite being sun-poisoned and running on two empanadas and vibes.
Ground Zero was lit. The music? Fire. The drinks? Strong enough to make you confess sins you haven’t committed yet. Somewhere between a bad twerk battle and a dance-off with a man wearing flip flops and a cowboy hat, we hit that wall.
That late night wall. The “if I don’t eat something in the next 7 minutes, I will pass out and possibly cry” wall.
Then someone yelled, “YOUNG’S AMERICAN EATS!!” like they had just found the holy grail. We ran out of Ground Zero like it was an emergency. Sand still in our shoes. Hair looking like we got caught in a blender.
When we got there, it was like the gates of heaven opened. The smell of grilled burgers? Baptized our souls.
The lady at the window looked at us like she had seen this exact situation 400 times.
“Rough night?” she asked.
“We need help,” my friend mumbled. “Like… spiritual help. But mostly food.”
We ordered everything: hot dogs, wings, burgers, fries, and fried ribs. One guy tried to pay with casino chips. Another offered a half-used bottle of sunscreen as currency. The cook didn’t flinch. Just said, “Cash only, playa.”
Ten minutes later, we were on the curb, feasting like raccoons in a dumpster made of dreams. Someone dropped a fry and cried. Another person proposed to a burger. I dipped a wing in ketchup and whispered, “This is better than my last relationship.”
We didn’t make it back to the villa. We passed out full and happy, right there under the stars, with Young’s wrappers as blankets.
Moral of the story?
Sosua Beach will drain you.
Ground Zero will break you.
But Young’s American Eats?..will rebuild you!
One fry at a time! See you soon!
