Joining the first Origins wine & art evening last night was an absolutely incredible evening!

Artists from different countries who all have completely different backgrounds, cultures and upbringings, each telling their story of how they found art and how art has connected them to their core being was so beautiful.

Despite everyone's origin story being unique, I was able to connect to bits of them in my own way, enriching the experience even more.

Oh, and let's not forget the incredible wine pairings! I haven't had good wine like this in a long time, so well done to Adriana for putting these together. Can't wait for future events like this!

(I unfortunately don't have all the artists tagged on here so feel free to tag them if possible, as I'd love for them to get their due mentions 💗)

Ok so it's really hot here in Munich. REALLY .... HOT! But let's not forget how recently it was still cold and how we yearned for warmer days!

I keep reminding myself of that and am trying to enjoy the summer weather as much as possible.
We've been taking easy foods like burgers, salads and fruit outoors and enjoying our dinners in the park or along the riverbank after taking a cool dunk in the water.

How are you enjoying your summer days right now?

We require 60-80g of fat per day in our diets. This is needed for a variety of bodily functions such as aiding in vitamin absorption, balancing hormones, coping with stress and concentration.

Unfortunately so much of the fats found in food products are saturated, not to mention trans fats in fast foods.
Once these are all cut out and we focus on the healthy fats that we SHOULD consume, it becomes a bit more tricky to make up that required daily quota...

But not impossible!

Focus on adding avocado, nuts, salmon, cottage cheese and seeds to your diet. Oils like olive-, canola- and Linseedoil are also preferred over butter, lard and coconut oil.

Chakalaka 🇿🇦

Who is familiar with this South African veggie relish?

Growing up, I absolutely loved it! I think it's due to the curry flavour and the slight spice level, not to mention the versatility.

When moving to Germany and not being able to stock up on store-bought Chakalaka, I had to get my hands on a recipe so I can still enjoy this goodie. Check it out below if you're curious to try it yourself 🌶

It's a great addition at BBQ's (or as we call it, a braai), enjoy it with potatoes, on rice or for those lazy dinner nights, as a toping on toast.

INGREDIENTS:
1 large onion
1 green bell pepper
2 medium carrots, grated
2 large tomatoes
1 tin of baked beans
2 tablespoons of curry powder
3 tablespoons of sweet chilli sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes (optional)
1 tablespoon sunflower oil

METHOD:
Chop and fry the onion and green pepper in the oil over medium heat until the onion becomes slightly translucent.
Add curry powder and fry for another minute, then bring in the grated carrots and about 3 tablespoons of water to loosen everything up. Turn the heat down a notch or two and allow the carrots to steam for a few minutes.
Chop the tomatoes and add them to the pot, simmering gently.
Once the carrots and tomatoes are cooked, the baked beans, sweet chilli and salt can join the mixture.
When the mixture is warmed through it's ready to serve.
ENJOY!

* optional extras: add a small tin of corn, a few chopped leaves of cabbage or even a few butternut pieces as added nutrition.

(Yields approximately 500g)
