Suuapinga Family

Meet Hannah. Born and raised in Munich, Hannah found her way to Suuapinga almost by chance.

While looking for a café job alongside her studies, she noticed our new café opening on Leopoldstraße, right at Münchner Freiheit. She simply walked in and asked if we were looking for someone. Luckily, we were – and that spontaneous “I’ll just ask” has turned into three years at Suuapinga.

Today, Hannah works around four days a week at our Münchner Freiheit Café. What she enjoys most are the people: chatting with regulars, welcoming new faces, laughing with her colleagues and making everyone feel welcome. For Hannah, treating people the way she would want to be treated herself is key – open, attentive and warm. And we can definitely confirm that’s exactly how Hannah is.

Her go-to coffee? A Flat White with oat milk. ☕️

When asked what makes Suuapinga special, her answer is simple: The people.

On her first day, Hannah sat down at our ’Stammtisch’ table without really knowing anyone – and somehow felt like she belonged. Three years later, many of the people she has met through Suuapinga have become a permanent part of her life. That feeling of being welcomed and seen is what makes Suuapinga feel a little like home to her.

When she’s not at the café, Hannah studies Psychology and is working towards becoming a psychotherapist. She loves sports, going to the theatre and spending time with friends and family.

And a place that feels like home to her? Portugal. The sea, the nature and the people – somehow, it just clicked.

We’re happy you walked through that door three years ago, Hannah. And today, we get to celebrate you: Happy Birthday! 🤍🥳

A washed Bourbon from Finca San Luis, El Salvador – roasted for espresso. Sweet and clean, with notes of caramel, melon and a crisp finish.

Orange cake, made together. 🍊

We use the zest of our oranges for drinks at the café, and instead of letting the peeled fruit go to waste, we send it back to our SUUAPINGA BAKERY.

Our team there turns it into orange paste and juice for this cake – vegan, fluffy on the inside, crunchy on the outside, with fresh orange slices on top.

Simple, a little citrusy, and very good with a cup of coffee.

Five years of Suuapinga.

Sourced from the volcanic slopes of Mount Ijen in East Java, Indonesia, this naturally processed lot is produced by Kevenka - Indonesian Specialty Coffee Processor & Exporter , a project founded by brothers Kevin and Kenny Soewondo. Working closely with around 500 smallholder farmers, they combine thoughtful processing with a deep respect for the character of their origin.

In the cup, expect vibrant notes of plum and orange, layered with nutmeg and vanilla, finishing with a rich dark chocolate sweetness.

Created to celebrate the past five years and everyone who has been part of our journey. And if you look closely at the packaging, you might spot a few familiar names. 👀

Seasonal Iced Specials. ☀️🧊

The heatwave made one thing clear: iced coffee season is in full swing.

If you haven’t tried our seasonal iced menu yet, now’s the time. Alongside our Cold Brew, you’ll find one of this summer’s favourites: Cascara – served over ice or with tonic water. Brewed from the dried fruit of the coffee cherry, it’s light, fruity and incredibly refreshing.

Also new to the menu is our homemade Seasonal Soda. This edition combines orange, rosemary and cardamom – bright, aromatic and just a little unexpected.

And because every iced drink deserves a little more room, we’re now serving them in our new 350ml glasses. Our 200ml glasses are still here too – now reserved for complimentary tap water.

5 years of Suuapinga.

The first photo was taken exactly 5 years ago when we first opened the doors at Herzogstraße. The second one below is from today. Same spot, same three guys, and lots of memories ever since.

To celebrate, Lucas, Pete & Emi will be behind the counter all day at Herzogstraße, making coffee, playing tunes and soaking up all the good vibes with you.

What started as a small idea in our very first shop has grown into something we could have never imagined – and none of it would’ve been possible without the people around us.

To our friends & family, our incredible team, partners, guests, and everyone who has been part of this journey over the last five years: thank you for believing in us, supporting us, growing with us, and sharing so many moments along the way.
