Here at Lowinsky’s we take things one day at a time. We try to keep our Humor intact even when times are “sour” (pun intended). Even when times are rough.

2026 has been a challenging year and that is precisely why we greatly appreciate every love & support. We do really need every bit of it. We do this with love. All of it.

All seriousness aside, I hate to say this, but if you have not tried the Lowinsky sour this summer yet you are kinda missing out big time. It’s sour in all the good ways.

We take things one day at a time here at Lowinsky’s. Even in rough times. That’s why we keep our Humor intact, even when times are “sour” (pun intended). 2026 has been a sporty year so far. A lot happens in the background to keep this little beautiful place running which we created 7 years ago.

All this is just to say we really appreciate your love & support on a daily basis.

I truly believe that my soul can be felt all across the space at Lowinsky’s. Nevertheless it is true that my physical presence amongst customers has been missing.

After two hard fought years establishing the business and surviving Corona, my wife and I decided to start a family and have kids.

Any person opening a business in Germany in gastronomy is first and foremost absolutely out of their minds. The reasons for that will be saved for another post. Opening up a business, having children and having 15 employees is more challenging than most could imagine.

I had the opportunity to raise my children and be a present father and husband. This does by no means mean that it was easy managing, running a cafe, developing new products, my wife running an online shop, me sourcing directly all japanese teas and me curating the rest of our coffee and caffeine program. Navigating the different bureaucratic institutions like Gesundheitsamt, Finanzamt, Ordnungsamt, challenging neighbors and customers is an art that I have yet to perfect.

And I by no means completely and purely enjoyed the time with my family. I was stressed. There were fires to be extinguished. Employees to be hired. Employees to be fired. Energy to be smoothened out. Financial hurdles. Not to mention managing a cafe from a team chat is not only challenging but to some degree not possible. You can only really know what’s going on when you’re there yourself. You can’t manage a team from afar, although I am sure some may feel differently.

Lowinsky’s as a space and a community is something I created and is something that you’ve nourished and taken care of. Although you may not have seen me, I was there and I was taking care.

But it’s been too long. And I do feel like I need to be back at my store. I need to get to know him again. Maybe he needs to get to know me again. I missed the cafe. Some of you missed me. But just like children need care and love, so do creations and spaces like Lowinsky.

From 29th of May you can officially enter the summer vibes while staying tastefully caffeinated with our summer drinks that quench all kinds of thirst.

All the heavenly drinks are carefully put together by our Caffeine Expert meister Lowinsky himself (I’m the admin writing this so I can say that).
