A (sweet) piece of Australia, right in Bonn. 🇦🇺✨

Meet the Lamington: soft, fluffy sponge cake dipped in rich chocolate and rolled in coconut. Every bite is comfort in its purest form: tender, chocolatey, a little nostalgic. 🍫🥥

📚Fun fact: the Lamington is said to have been born in Queensland around the turn of the 20th century, when a chef supposedly dipped leftover sponge cake in chocolate to stretch it further for unexpected guests, then rolled it in coconut so it wouldn’t leave a mess on people’s fingers.

⏳ More than a century later, it’s still one of Australia’s most loved cakes, and today it’s ours in Bonn too.

Rich, deeply braised beef brisket slow-cooked in coconut with galangal, ginger, lemongrass, star anise, clove, chilli and kaffir lime. All wrapped in a chilli crust and served with sambal, a chilli paste that does NOT mess around. 🌶️🔥
