Moving away from Singapore has made me realise how much more I treasure the festivals I grew up with.
Mid-Autumn Festival was always just there - mooncakes everywhere, lanterns lighting up the streets, and everyone knowing it was that time of year. In Berlin, it's different. Mooncakes aren't easy to come by, and Mid-Autumn isn't really celebrated here.
So I'm grateful for places like District Mot creating a little piece of home and keeping these traditions alive for the Asian community. I'm not Vietnamese, but it's a celebration that feels familiar across so many Asian cultures.
If you're in Berlin, come soak up the Mid-Autumn vibes! They're giving out free handmade paper lanterns for kids from 18-27 September, while stocks last
A little taste of home, far from home.
