Companion was born as an espresso and tea bar in the corner of a high-end clothing store in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district in early 2013. We were informed by our own diverse histories in specialty coffee formed in our native cities of Vancouver and Perth before meeting behind bar in Berlin. Shortly after establishing the company, we quickly evolved our approach to incorporate directly sourced single

batch teas and fell deep into the rabbit hole that opened up around this ancient and revered hot beverage. We have since come to establish a reputation as purveyors of some of the tastiest directly sourced specialty tea in Berlin and in 2018 opened our own independent tea room and cafe in neighbouring Neukölln, a short cycle away from our original Voo Store location. We are excited to finally be able to offer our tea to those who can’t make it to visit us in our Berlin tearoom and encourage you to get in touch if you are looking for more information about any of the teas in our range

Our newest coffee release is from the Gitesi washing station in Rwanda’s Western Province, operated by Alexis and Aime Gahizi. This is the second lot we’ve purchased from this father and son team as we love the profile of their coffees - always syrupy sweet, fruity and floral, like an exquisite fruit cordial.

Hojicha tins are back in stock 💫 our hojicha powder is made from roasted green tea leaves from Shizouka, Japan. Whisk it up with a little water, then pour over ice for a refreshing, low caffeine hojicha latte 🧊

During our trip to Japan last September, we had the chance to meet the Yamaguchi family in Satsuma. We’re excited to now share their Hojicha with you!

A gently roasted green tea with comforting notes of toasted grains and brown sugar.

Find us this Saturday at C*SPACE Berlin for the Tea Summer Fest!

We’ll be serving tea from 13:00–20:00 alongside an amazing community of tea labels, artists, ceramicists and food creators. There will be workshops, tastings, talks, a beautiful tea market and plenty of space to slow down, connect and spend the day together.

Whether you’re curious about tea or a seasoned pro, this is a wonderful place to explore.
