Yesterday we officially handed over keys and said goodbye to our Hinterland space. Though we know the idea of Hinterland will live long inside us — a concept that will continue to inspire and grow — it’s still a bittersweet moment to close the doors and walk away from a space that held so much. What a crazy, amazing, special, insane past couple of years we had. We opened our doors in the first wave of the pandemic and against all odds we had so much support and we were shown so much optimism. Thank you to everyone who made this place so special and who helped push it along throughout its time; our guests, employees, helpers, collaborators, purveyors, makers, farmers, wine partners, neighbors, family & friends. It’s too many to tag here but you know who you are 💚
We are closing one big door but we also feel held by such a massive community here in Berlin and it’s hinterland. Thank you.

To our dear community:
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that we have decided to dim our neon green sign and close Hinterland.

It’s been tremendously difficult for us to arrive at this decision and although it feels as though there may never be a “right” time to close up a concept that has been in some stage of development since way back in 2017, if there were something approximating a right time to move on, this one would be it.

It brings us great sadness that we’ll no longer be there to serve you, surprise you, taste with you, collaborate with you, as it’s you, our community, whom we will miss the most. Our partners, and the many incredible people we’ve had the privilege and pleasure of working with and learning from – our co-producers, purveyors, wine importers, our various team members and our entrepreneur peers who have supported and rooted for us the whole way through. It’s based on this converging of efforts, positive values and ‘toughing it out together’ attitude that Hinterland could navigate through these years of both great accomplishments and sticky challenges. These walls have held a lot of wonderful experiences and transmitted a great deal of beauty into the world. We’re so grateful to all who have made that possible.

And deeply grateful thank you to our families and our dear friends – your support has been absolutely essential from start to finish.

As we all go forth into the future, we can be sure of one thing: as challenging as these past few years may have been, they’ve also been PRODUCTIVE and filled with the highs of collaborative, hard work. We’re excited for what the future holds and we look forward to approaching it with strength, positivity and optimism – and of course, with all of the accumulated experiences of these last years.

We are looking for a Front of House service member and a Chef de Partie on a full-time basis.

-a 4 day / 35 hour work week (expected to increase to 5 days / 40 hour work week by Spring 2022)

We have been so happy working with die Müritzfischer who supply us with beautiful inland fish from Germany. They work sustainably when lake fishing and also in their aquaculture & fish farming, dedicating to fishery research in cooperation with several research institutions. They have a transparent mindset and have a really interesting, dynamic story dedicated to tradition & forward-thinking in tandem, launching their business in 1952.
