Our roastery is where it all begins. Run by this is the place where coffee is roasted, cupped, and prepared for our lovely customers. The same location where you can pick up a bag of beans to take home, or to sit with us for a cup of coffee.

We source our coffee from carefully chosen farms across Africa and South America. Every producer and farm has its own story and way of nurturing, harvesting, and experimenting with this incredible fruit.

When we think about the journey each coffee makes, the many hands and people it passes through, the places it originates from and travels through, from the moment it’s picked to the moment it’s lastly roasted here, it’s remarkable.

That journey inspires us every day to keep learning, improving, and sharing the joy that this beautiful product brings.

In our roastery - A little glimpse into how we do what we do at

Our roasting machine was manufactured in 1951 in west germany and underwent a complete renovation in 2018. It’s very manual and artisanal. We roast in small batches of 4-5 kilograms.

Gesura washing station is located in northern Burundi at around 1,665 meters and works with about 400 smallholder farmers growing Red Bourbon. The farmers are part of the Terimbe cooperative (translated to “Let’s move forward”) and deliver carefully hand-picked cherries to the station on the day of harvest.

Gesura is operated by Kalico, a female-led company founded by Angele Ciza. She’s the first woman to run a coffee business in Burundi. Around 70% of the farmer network are women, and the company actively supports women’s empowerment, community development, full traceability, and sustainable farming practices.
 Only ripe red cherries are accepted. The coffee is floated, pulped, fermented for 14 hours, fully washed, and dried on raised beds for 2–3 weeks before storage and dry milling. This careful process ensures consistent specialty-quality results.

The Cyesha Coffee Washing Station, established in 2022, is located in Rwanda’s Western Province, at an altitude of 1,450–1,750 meters. The station collaborates with 470 skilled smallholder farmers. Its location near Lake Kivu provides an ideal environment for coffee cultivation, benefiting from volcanic soil. The wind flow from the lake through the surrounding hills creates perfect conditions for drying coffee.

The ripest cherries are hand-picked and then placed in floating water tanks, where the „sinkers“ are separated from the „floaters.“ The high-quality sinkers are then fermented overnight for 12 hours.
After the fermentation, the cherries are depulped and “IKINIMBA” ceremony starts - a traditional ceremony where workers are stopping on the beans (while dancing and singing) to remove the final sugar around the beans. Then, beans are washed with clean water and drying process on African raised beds.

Rwanda’s transformation since the ‚90s is inspiring. The country has rebuilt its coffee sector through strong governance and a focus on high-quality coffee production. Coffee has become one of Rwanda’s major exports and a vital source of income for many citizens.

This coffee produces a sweet, balanced cup with tart berry acidity, a silky mouthfeel, and a long aftertaste.
