🧙🏻♀️Čarodějnice - Walpurgis Night in Czechia 🔥
Ever wondered why bonfires light up all across the Czech Republic on April 30th?
This night is known as Walpurgis Night or locally Filipojakubská noc/ Čarodějnice - a traditional celebration marking the end of winter and the arrival of spring 🌸
In the past, people believed witches gathered on this night, so bonfires were lit to protect homes and drive away evil spirits. Fire also symbolized purification, new energy, and was closely connected to fertility and new life.
Today, it’s all about good vibes:
- bonfires across the city
- grilling sausages (buřty)
- drinks, music & friends
- a unique local atmosphere you won’t experience any other time of the year
📍 Where to go in Prague?
Petřín Hill (beautiful views & cozy atmosphere)
Riegrovy Sady (young crowd & sunset vibes)
Letná Park (big bonfires & lively energy)
Ladronka (more local, relaxed vibe)
Žluté lázně (more lively, party-style)
and more places
