Every week Beba sews Pete a new vraka.
Every week Pete takes it off as fast as he puts it on.

This is week one.
Kataklysmos is the theme.

The house of Beba opens the season at the water’s edge with a single look: the vraka, reimagined. Voluminous and drop-crotch cut the original Cypriot way, rendered in iridescent sea-glass blue and teal and hand-beaded, centimetre by centimetre, with magnificent breaking waves and scattered shells.

Worn open over a pearl-cream shirt with an extravagant ruffled jabot and all but buried beneath cascading ropes of gold chain, freshwater pearl and cowrie, anchored by a single oversized ‘Mati’ (evil eye) at the chest.

The traditional stivania return, reimagined, crusted in shellwork to the knee.

Oversized Amber worry beads are presented to emphasise the authentic Cypriot male look. Classic aviators, worn pushed up and away from the eyes, never over them.

The mood is maritime ceremonial.
The model’s expression is glacial.

52 weeks. 52 vrakes. Follow Beba’s campaign to make Pete fashionable. It will not work.

Cypriot comfort food crossed with a Philly Sandwich.

Slow-cooked shredded beef, cooked for 12 hours, after which the juices and onions are put through a reduction to make our stifado sauce, topped with real cheddar, our house made cheddar cheese sauce, pickles & jalapeños, served on a toasted baguette.

All our meat is sourced by none other than Master Butcher

‘Εν Κατακλυσμός Πικλούθκια μου τζαι έραψα τζαινούρκες φόρμες.’ Λαλεί η Πέπα.

Every week Beba makes herself a new tracksuit.

This week it’s a beautiful sea-blue velour statement piece. Pearls cascade down the chest like foam, silver and gold waves emphasise the abdomen, gold and silver shells pinned where shells belong, and a fishing net draped over the shoulders with more shells ornately woven into the knots.

An outfit of truly cataclysmic proportions.

She’s also requested the Baywatch theme song be attached to this carousel.

Come to Larnaca. Go to the festival. Buy your kids cheap toys that go straight into the bin. Let them run wild on the bumper cars. Sponsor a few turns on the kazanti. Get them enough candy floss to give them diabetes.

Be liberal and free. Why?

Because when they ask for McDonald’s you can say no and come to Pikla for a burger you’ll both love.

But...we annoyed the s**t out of them with a DSLR and a high-powered flash. Think eating with a strobe light in your face and you’re not far off.

2 x 125g freshly pressed 100% beef patties, cheddar cheese, rocket, cucumber, sun dried tomato paste, caramelised onion chutney and grilled halloumi served on a lightly toasted brioche burger bun.

Everything made from scratch in-house except:

Bread by Master Baker Avramis.
Halloumi from Our Island’s Leading Producer Alambra.
