Tamarindo is a town best understood without an itinerary.

A surf town that grew up without entirely growing out of itself. Barefoot still works here. So does dressing up for dinner. Spanish, English and the occasional howl of a monkey become part of the same soundtrack, while a five-minute walk can take you from a busy table to the edge of the Pacific.

There is a reason we feel different when we spend more time surrounded by nature. Research has found that exposure to natural environments is associated with lower perceived stress and changes in physiological markers such as cortisol — as if the body recognizes that it can soften when the world around it becomes quieter.

Maybe that’s part of what Tamarindo gives us. Days shaped by salt air, warm light, vegetation and the sound of the ocean; less stimulation, more space to notice where you are. El Chante was created within that landscape, not to compete with it. Because sometimes recharging your energy has very little to do with doing more — and everything to do with spending enough time in the right environment to feel like yourself again.
