If you got the opportunity to chase the swell of a lifetime, would you take it?

A few months ago, while filming Get On The Damn Boat, Tavo fell in love with sailing. He loved everything about being out there, moving with the ocean and seeing where it takes you. It stuck with him. When he got home, he wasn’t ready for it to end.

Thats when Drift Theory | Adventure Charters invited him to get back on the boat, and sail up to Puerto Escondido, Mexico to chase the biggest swell of the year. He dropped everything, grabbed his boards, and took the chance.

It payed off, because not only did Tavo get the trip of a lifetime, he also got the wave of his life, riding a 7’5” mini gun shaped by Mike Minchinton right here at Somos.

All of us are learning a thing or two from Tavo. Follow the feeling. Take the chance. Go see what’s out there.

About a year ago, while filming Somos Dos, Max Ascher jumped on a Sambal and a Satellite from LOVE MACHINE and something clicked.

Fast forward to his first trip to Indonesia. The advice before going is usually pretty predictable. Bring your go-to shortboards, stick with what you know, don’t experiment when the waves get serious.

Max did pretty much the opposite.

He ordered 2 board LoveMachines quiver for the trip and took that same curiosity into some of the most perfect, powerful waves he’d ever surfed.

A couple of proper swells later, here’s a small look at how that decision is playing out.
