Set in an iconic 19th-century building, this luxury 5-star hotel offers timeless European Luxury at the foot of the Cable Car with unrivalled access to skiing and hiking trails. Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains is located in St Moritz Bad, right at the Mauritius spring, the actual root of St Moritz itself. It is the only 5-star luxury hotel in St Moritz with direct access to the ski and hiking region of Corviglia – immediately opposite of the cable car station. The legendary Hahnensee ski run ends in front of the hotel and the cross-country ski runs of the Engadine ski marathon pass it too. Take advantage of the skiing rentals and school, ski services and the overnight deposit at the cable cars. It is a relaxed grand hotel that offers 184 elegant rooms and suites and 27 luxury residences, three restaurants, a bar and a cigar lounge. Travelling to St. Moritz by train feels like part of the holiday itself. Settle in by the window and watch Alpine villages, grazing cows, mountain lakes and sweeping peaks pass by.

On the route from Chur, the train crosses the Landwasser Viaduct, a curved stone bridge that leads straight into a tunnel in the mountainside. South of St. Moritz, the Bernina line passes the pale waters of Lago Bianco near Ospizio Bernina. Continue towards Tirano and you’ll cross the Brusio Circular Viaduct, where the train makes a full loop as it descends the valley.

Today’s Alpabzug in Celerina brought people from across the Engadin together to celebrate a tradition rooted in Alpine life.

Each summer, cattle graze on the high mountain pastures. As the season draws to a close, farmers guide them back down to the valley. The Alpabzug marks their safe return and gives the community a chance to recognise the work of the farming families who care for them.

The decorated animals, ringing cowbells and warm welcome along the route made it a special occasion for everyone who joined.

Today, the team of Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz came together to reflect on a successful summer. Our General Manager shared the season’s highlights and achievements before we proudly presented training certificates to our colleagues and celebrated our long-standing team members.

The most special moment of the day was honouring Adriano Feraco for an incredible 20 years with Kempinski. Since joining our hotel in 2006, Adriano has made a lasting impression in several roles. With his passion, charisma and unmistakable personality, he became a true St. Moritz iconic.

Adriano is one of the finest examples of genuine hospitality. His dedication, warmth and natural ability to make every guest feel special are qualities that the next generation of hoteliers can truly look up to and follow.
