We decided to name our store and label in tribute to the very unique American street musician George 'Bongo Joe' Coleman (1923 – 1999) who was very popular in Texas and despite lucrative offers from established venues, for 30 years, preferred playing on the streets of different US cities and recorded his only album in San Antonio: George Coleman: Bongo Joe, in 1968 with producer Chris Strachwitz of Arhoolie Records. His self titled record is one that we have always cherished and was reissued years ago by our friends from Mississippi Records. His music was created with a pure DIY attitude and his message and the way he sung was in our opinion very ahead of its time. George 'Bongo Joe' Coleman's family were over the moon after seeing photos of our record store in Geneva, and were very excited that European music lovers, so far away, decided to honor the name of their loved and long-lost relative.

Time to reveal a second single of the upcoming OLA NOCTURNA compilation we made with Loïc Diaz Ronda !! And all the people following our work since a while will recognize a known face : JAVIER SEGURA !

With Camino Largo, Canary Islands musician Javier Segura crafts a nocturnal meditation where reverberating guitars, organic pulses and atmospheric textures unfold into an intimate sonic landscape. Balancing experimental songwriting and ambient music, the track reveals one of the most introspective sides of Spain’s late-1980s underground.

Time to unveil the viragezero wall!

So happy to release this incredible album. Working on this record felt natural, given our shared history with Citron Citron, and with Elie and Seb through L’Éclair. And it was also sweet to finally work with Léonard after so much years evolving in the same scene !

We were hooked from the very first demos. That unique sound, that energy somewhere between EDM and Madchester, and Zéo’s unmistakable voice. A real gem. So proud to see Geneva’s scene keep flourishing with projects this powerful. Now it's your turn : book viragezero, play their music everywhere !

Huuuuge thanks m3n1o for your work on the full project, all covers were crazy, all animations were top-notch. Such a pleasure.

Sous l’alias Colombey, chante avec sa voix autotunée et des vieux synthés les épisodes cabossés d’une vie bancale, qui prennent pour décor les communes perdues de la périphérie, quelque part bien loin des mondanités des centres urbains et des afterworks branchés. Colombey délivre une musique punk et mélancolique jouée de manière directe qui a un pied dans la solitude et l’autre dans le recul mais qui fédère par la liberté qu’elle a à ne rassembler qu’à elle-même.

Enfant terrible du synth-punk, ChristopheClebard s’est exilé de son Italie natale, en premier temps à Vancouver pour finir en planque sur le territoire belge. Sur son parcours, on l’a vu œuvrer dans les formations TUCANO, COBRA JAUNE, ou encore ONEF**KONE. David (de son vrai nom) a le cœur qui saigne. Il chante l’amour, la rupture et la fête triste à l’aide d’un synthétiseur fatigué.
En concert, il empoigne son auditoire, en slip, avec un tact qui peut évoquer le top10 de nos plus belles crises d’angoisses. Une expérience unique qui ravive tous les sens.

Back in April, Sofa Recorda and Bongo Joe teamed up to release the beautiful compilation dedicated to Yassine Nana.

Those eight tracks recorded between 1984 and 1989, during a key moment in Mauritania’s musical history. Recorded in Mauritania as well as during stays in Paris and Rabat, these songs integrate drum machines, synthesizers and electric guitars into Saharan musical structures. Influenced by reggae, soul and new wave, the group develops a sound that reflects the circulation of music and technology in the 1980s, while remaining firmly rooted in Mauritanian languages, themes and melodic systems.

Due to delay in the records delivery, we never had time to post the WALL, but now it's fixed.

Au programme : Swann Thommen plonge dans les archives sonores du MEG, les DJs de Radio Minus explorent les trésors cachés du disque pour enfants, une écoute radiophonique de Vania Jaikin Miyazaki autour de la thématique de la mort, et une soirée mini showcase du label Stroom avec Heith & Tarawangsawelas en live, accompagnés par Nosedrip, le mastermind derrière le label, avec une sélection horizontale spécialement pensée pour l’occasion. On se réjouit !

We invited this month new Geneva-based project bringing together members of Citron Citron, L’Éclair and Magic & Naked. Somewhere between dream pop, trip hop and electronica, the band sketches a sound that is both fast and floating! Link below:

Memory to the Soil.

Here’s the stunning new video made by Emily Greenham for the final track on Side A of The Lemoine Point.

The song is a kind of mantra, travelling from the roots of our being out to the furthest reaches of the universe tracing the stuff we’re made from, from stars to earth to living things, and eventually back into the soil, with a little help from the worms.

The video finds Blind Yeo back in our natural habitat: somewhere along the banks of the Blind Yeo itself, beneath the M5.
