Last weekend, I had the honor of making a dear neighbor’s 50th wedding anniversary cake! Congratulations, Patsy and Guy! The cake: vanilla cake, vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream, flowers by Michelle King, topper: made of sugar by me.

I had a pretty epic week of custom baking orders that had me bouncing between different skill sets like a pastry ninja. It was challenging, creative, and so much fun—and I feel incredibly lucky that I get to bake for all of you!

Making piñata cakes is fun! When the lucky birthday girl cuts into the cake all of these sprinkles will spill out. It’s a fun effect for a special occasion 🦄🌈

Hey all! If you have kids scheduled for next week's baking camp here's a little info so you and your campers are prepared for all three days:

Drop-off/Pick-up: Morning session runs from 9 AM to 11:30 AM. We will be in the kitchen ready to receive them by 8:45 AM. Please arrive to pick up your kid(s) a few minutes before 11:30 AM. Afternoon session runs from 1:30 PM to 4 PM. Please arrive to pick up your kid(s) a few minutes before 4 PM.

Location: Beacon United Church Kitchen, 25 Beacon St, Yarmouth, NS
**You can enter through the kitchen, located next to the small parking lot on the right. **

Other Details/What to Bring
Please send them with a water bottle and an apron! It might get messy ;-) We recommend wearing closed-toed shoes while working in a kitchen environment. If your baker has long hair, please send them in with a headband or hair tie so it can be worn up and out of their face.

Each day they'll have something delicious to bring home and share with you. We recommend sending them with a large plastic tupperware container so their baked goods can make it home safely.

If you have any questions, please let me know. See you next week!

My birthday and wedding anniversary fall within a few days of each other, so each year I make a dessert we’ll both enjoy! This year I was craving something decadent. Dark chocolate and raspberries is my favorite flavor combination. We’re talking “if you got stranded on a desert island” level what would you pick? Hence this torte. What’s the difference between a torte and a cake? A torte uses little to no flour and is dense in the best way possible. I used my three favorite dark/bittersweet chocolates—over 3/4 of a pound! The seedless raspberry jam I made from scratch made this torte sing. I finished it with dark chocolate ganache.

Behind the scenes at home as I enjoy a weekend of baking and BBQ! Can you say homemade graham crackers and 🪵smoked mac n’ cheese?
