Here’s a little story about these books. My Mom was an avid reader and left behind a massive collection of books when she passed away from Colon Cancer in 2011. A collection that I have not been able to let go of for 11 years because I feel like each book represents a snapshot of the past and a glimpse into the different points in her life. Looking at them helps me remember her throughout those years. Her books were a part of her and she is a part of me.
•To date, I’ve struggled with finding a place worthy enough to hold her collection (or maybe I just needed an excuse to hold on to them a little longer) however, the time has come to pass them on to the hands of other readers.
•The answer to what to do with these books came easily to me about a week ago when I heard of Hailey’s story-a young Mom living with a terminal Cancer diagnosis and tragically, time is not on her side (sadly a story similar to my Mom’s). So, I’ve decided to host a book sale (featuring my Mom’s entire collection) in my yard to help support Hailey & her family.
•All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Hailey’s go-fund-me account. I know, if I asked her, my Mom would support Hailey in a heart beat.
•In terms of the books, there are hundreds and it appears that my Mom enjoyed a wide range of genres. You can expect mystery, thriller, suspense, s*x, romance, politics, religion, war, some personal development, fiction, non fiction, of course Oprah’s Book Club and just about every New York Times BestSeller ever made. 😉
