Meet Bree, not only one of our longest standing servers and supervisors but also our Dungeons and Dragons Coordinator at Across the Board! ❤

You can find her here all the time! Enthusiastically teaching games to her tables, planning her next D&D session, or perfecting her latte art game! 🐉

Bree’s favourite part of her job is the relationships she makes with other staff members! Having worked at ATB for 9 years (wow!) she’s been able to work with a bunch of different folks; quote: “I work with and have worked with really cool people!” 😁

Welcome this month's latte feature: "Earl Grey Cafe Latte" ☕

Not a traditional Earl Grey latte, this is made with locally roasted fair trade espresso, steamed milk (or iced), and a house made syrup using Kenyan Earl Grey tea sourced from our neighbours ! Lightly sweet with notes of citrus and bergamot, this is a cozy latte to carry you through the final weeks of summer! (We're not ready for pumpkin quite yet... 😅)

We're Hiring!

We are looking to hire a skilled and passionate full time Kitchen Manager/Head Chef to lead our lovable crew here at ATB! Send your resume, cover letter, and favourite board game to [email protected] to apply.

Job description includes:
- Supervise daily kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking, and plating to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Hire, train, manage, and schedule kitchen staff, promoting teamwork, skill development, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Oversee food handling procedures, ensuring compliance with health regulations and food safety standards.
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless food service and timely delivery of orders.
- Develop innovative menus that suit the cafes unique needs while maintaining operational feasibility.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control food costs to optimize profitability.
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment aligned with industry standards and best practices.
- Evenings and weekends as necessary

Qualities we'd love to see:
- Proven supervising and cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu development.
- Team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead diverse staff members.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling procedures.
- Excellent leadership qualities with a focus on fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Knows and loves ATB and our mission to foster connection and play through board games and a unique dining experience!

Pay starting at $43,000. Benefits include free food, health insurance (after probationary period), and a warm, welcoming work environment!
