Located on the edge of Sports Hospitality & Entertainment District, Garrick Hotel Bar has been a go-to place for Downtown locals, regulars and many sport and concert fans in Winnipeg. ATM, VLT's, Old Style Jukebox, Great Sound, Beer-To-Go, Friendly Staff and always a great deal for a Pint of Cold Beer.

COMEDY NIGHT
(reality of showbiz)

Comedy night that was supposed to happen in September is a total bust. The person who approached us wanting to host comedy night dropped the ball that they probobly never had.

We were told that line up is ready and it was just a matter of artwork till event can go public. They were also relying on the venue to create event on FB and use our ticket portal = we wanted to get everything ready for them, considering that we also have other things to do.

2 weeks later (!) - no artwork and no communication. Not very professional to say the least. We sent email stating that we are pulling out...and no reply to that ether. This is not how we do business in the world of entertainment.

If you see poster with someone performing here - we can honestly say that they are punctual, responsible, responsive, professional, easy to work with, very talented of course and we actually like them (and they like us).

We are now in September = Cribbage Night at Garrick Hotel is around the corner. We start on September 22nd. It will take...

We are now in September = Cribbage Night at Garrick Hotel is around the corner. We start on September 22nd.

It will take few events to figure out best time frame. As it stands now 7pm is when we start but if we find out that 6 or 6.30pm is better, we will make adjustments.

We just received this image (thank you Jason!), this photo was taken inside State & Main restaurant. We've never been there, but any place with Garrick Hotel photo on the wall deserves to be mentioned.
We wish State & Main all the very best and hope to visit one day.

About this photo:
Circa 2006. Post movie shoot of Assassination of Jesse James. They recreated original front entrance to the building. It looked really good for a while until it started to get weathered and got removed. Original photo is in color (on the right).

Event that will never happen
(...they say never say never, so we'll say unlikely...)

Our elevator service company mentioned again how much they like our elevator and that it should be in the movie etc. And then in conversation they brought up Cheryl Lashek who used to sign off on all elevator permits and for some reason became local celebrity...for having her signature on elevator permits. We not really sure why.

One day, on the weekend the idea came to have Cheryl host an evening of elevator story telling at Garrick Hotel that also offered elevator ride with her and few lucky (vip tickets) attendees using Garrick Hotel elevator. It was a fun imaginary evening with great story telling, some music, few drinks and of course meeting Chery Lashek in person and getting her famous autograph.

This evening began to sound better and better with few drinks... resulting in us messaging her with this idea lol. She never replied and actually never seen our message (according to DM). ...perhaps might as well.
But it still sounds like a good idea and event that people would totally attend. Would have been another one of those - only at the Garrick Hotel. What do you think?

This evening is a special tribute / celebration of Buena Vista Social Club album (recorded in March 1996) - 30th Anniversary. A Night In Havana will also treat you to some of the great Cuban / Latin music heard on the streets of Havana today.

We say thank you to Justin Waterman and all the guys at Dizzy Violets...and all the family and friends who came to the show on Saturday.
It was a lot of fun, music was awesome and Justin of course had to surprise everyone (even his band members!) with miraculously pulling out mask and quickly fixing it up on his face. Nobody saw it coming. It added element of surprise with a lil bit of creative weirdness that make good shows great.

We needed to have this fun party energy before the end of the summer and band with audience delivered 100%.
