Bistrot By Basil

Bistrot By Basil "We endeavor to provide an environment that promotes social interaction over food and drink." But the dream never died. We hope to see you often.

It was a dream in 1975 which gave birth to a Bistrot where the rich and the poor, the wise and the unwise could gather socialize and exchange ideas over food and drink. In no time it evolved into an interesting place for interesting people, the village hub; A classic Bistrot, a gathering spot for thinkers and individuals of all ages. Over the years our bistrot has become the favorite of some of Wi

nnipeg’s prominent individuals from political, financial, artistic, literary circles. Then came the flood…

On Feburary 11th 2008, the city’s water-main burst, erasing us from the map. After lengthy painful negotiations with the insurance industry and months of planning and reconstruction we have risen from the ashes and are answering to your demands for our original roots offering you wholesome, unconventional food and drink. Over the past quarter of a century you have enjoyed us and often quite unexpectedly you sat beside luminaries from sport, the theater, the arts, the likes of Pierre burton, Bobby Haul, Gordie Howe, and Wayne Gretzky, Thelonius Monk, George Savalas, Nana Miscurrie, Mayors Premiers, Opposition leaders, politicians of all stripes and most memorably an afternoon with Bill Cosby whom we taught the art of steaming cappuccinos. We once again look forward to providing you with the pleasant gastronomic and socially interactive experience. We ask you to leave your laptops behind, enjoy this village icon.
