Glen Murray promised he would tell Winnipeggers before election day, who donated to his Green Party leadership campaign and what he spent their money on.
He lied.
They were due with Elections Canada in April 2021.
Still not filed.
Do we want a Mayor who is breaking federal law?

10/25/2022

My 2022 campaign platform outlined bold, practical policies to transform the culture at City Hall and struck a chord with voters.

Winnipeg voters want someone who shares their values, acts with integrity, and makes sure City Hall get the job done. I was the only candidate to let citizens see exactly what their next Mayor would deliver, all in one document with my Plan for Winnipeg. My focus is on Growth and Investment, No Tax Increases, and making the Permit Office speed up the approval process.

CentrePort will unlock 16,000 jobs and $80M in new tax revenue; new transit routes to get people to big industrial employers; seizing derelict properties for renovation into affordable housing. All of those proposals were adopted by my opponents, but none can match my plan, which minimized costs to taxpayers to stimulate jobs and the economy.

I will fire the police chief, abolish photo radar, and task police with ensuring transit operators and riders are safe from violence. Celebrating Winnipeg includes protecting our Urban Forest, stable, escalating funding for our Arts organizations, and restoring Canada Day celebrations at the Forks.

Canada Day has already been quietly removed from some City collective agreements. It’s been replaced by the term ‘July 1’, and Canada’s birthday has been stripped of its meaning inside Brian Bowman’s Winnipeg. Winnipeggers are proud of our country and Canada Day is the one day of the year we are unified in celebration of it and of our future. I am the only candidate for Mayor who will stand up for Canada Day.

On Wednesday, our citizens have a real opportunity to elect a new Mayor who is incorruptible - for the first time in decades.

In the privacy of the voting booth, there are no cameras, no news media, and no social media commenters. No one can harass you or try to cancel you for your beliefs about who is the best leader for City Hall.

Vote with your heart and together we can make Winnipeg into a City of Opportunity for all of us.

Today and every day of this campaign Glen Murray is breaking federal election law by failing to file his financial disclosure after he lost the Green Party 2020 leadership.
That means every donation and every endorsement he has is suspect.

He’ll do and say anything to get elected.
As Free Press columnist Tom Brodbeck wrote when Glen Murray announced he was running to get his old job back, “Humility has never been his strong suit. Nor has his relationship with the truth, which is strained at the best of times.”

At the televised CBC debate Glen Murray pledged – out of the blue – “We will not increase taxes.”
What he wanted voters to hear was that he wasn’t going to raise their taxes - but two days later
he went on to list all the new taxes he would raise after all.

His intention on CBC-TV was to steal a principled promise of my campaign and make it seem like he believes in fiscal responsibility.

He has no plan for Winnipeg, he only has a plan to get himself elected.

Because Glen Murray is a career politician who is desperate for a job. That’s why he made a deal with city workers like the firefighter’s union, to get their votes. But once he said on CBC-TV he was willing to freeze
property taxes, he realized he would have no new revenue to fulfill his promises to all the unions.

So he came up with wild ideas to bring in $33M on the fly.

Unlike Glen Murray, I'm not corruptable. And unlike Glen Murray, I won't walk out on you after I'm elected. I'm here for growth and opportunity for all Winnipeggers, unlike Glen Murray.

When I say that as Mayor, ‘I won’t raise taxes on Winnipeggers’, I mean, I will not raise ANY taxes.

I will create a City of Opportunity for all of us, with leadership that will change the culture of City Hall. That is why I am asking the voters of Winnipeg to put their trust in me

Why Did Glen Murray Promise To Raise Taxes After Promising Not To Raise Taxes? Because He’ll Do Anything To Get Elected, That’s Why.

Glen Murray is so used to misleading people that he can no longer tell what words mean.

Last week, his latest lie was announcing a fake tax freeze. At the CBC debate he pledged – out of the blue – “We will not increase taxes.”

What he wanted voters to hear was that he wasn’t going to raise their taxes - but two days later he went on to list all the new taxes he would raise after all.

His intention on CBC-TV was to steal a principled promise of the Jenny Motkaluk campaign and make it seem like he believes in fiscal responsibility. But unlike Glen Murray, when I say that as Mayor, ‘I won’t raise taxes on Winnipeggers’, I mean, I will not raise ANY taxes.

Not Glen Murray. He promised on Friday to bring in new taxes.

- increase the business tax by $12M after we’ve spent years to reduce it to keep Winnipeg
competitive with other cities.
- extract $9 million by charging a tax every day on commercial parking spaces, which he can’t do
without the province approving it.
- raise $8 million through development fees because that’s exactly what the city needs, higher
construction costs
- pilfer $3.2 million through a 10% tax on short-term rentals to keep the votes of his friends in
the hotel lobby.

He has no plan for Winnipeg, he only has a plan to get himself elected. Because Glen Murray is a career politician who is desperate for a job.

Once he said on CBC-TV he was willing to freeze property taxes, he realized he would have no new revenue to fulfill his promises to all the unions, so he came up with wild ideas to bring in $33M on the fly.

The real reason Glen Murray had to cook up new ways to pay for his irresponsible spending promises, is because he knows his idea to get the province of Manitoba to hand over 1% of the provincial sales tax is as dead as his “New Deal” was, 20 years ago.

He’ll do and say anything to get elected.

Police Board Chair Markus Chambers Played Politics With My Complaint Against Chief Danny Smyth

- Chambers, who endorsed Gillingham for Mayor, says no one is accountable for public safety -

This past summer, every resident of Winnipeg was shocked and horrified at the wave of senseless unprovoked violence, especially the stabbings and crime on Canada Day. When asked by the media, Police Chief Danny Smyth stated that these incidents —many life-threatening — were "nothing new."

In my formal complaint to the Winnipeg Police Board, I stated;

“Chief Smyth’s comments reflect a pattern of inadequate leadership and lack of accountability spanning several years... the continued spiral of violent crime and murder in our City, demonstrates that he has failed to fulfill his duty to provide adequate and effective policing in the City of Winnipeg.”

Only 30 hours later, they sent a terse reply:

“No single individual in the city of Winnipeg, or indeed any city anywhere, is ‘accountable’ for the rate of crime"
"the Board Chair must consider the nature of the complaint and determine the appropriate process by which the complaint must be administered"
"Your complaint does not meet the criteria of an allegation of disciplinary default, criminal conduct or inadequate or improper performance. “

Police Board chair Markus Chambers made the decision to dismiss my complaint. He is supporting Scott Gillingham, who has campaigned that he would sit as mayor on the police board alongside Danny Smyth.

“Police Board’s in Manitoba were created to circumvent political interference or the appearance of political interference.”

But, I am not an elected official. I have no political power. He does. Markus Chambers played politics with my complaint to protect both Scott Gillingham and Danny Smyth.

If voters put their trust in me to become their next Mayor, I will have Danny Smyth fired and I will abolish the Winnipeg police board. It’s his responsibility to fight crime, and he has failed.

I had a very good conversation with CityNews, and they asked me to discuss my platform and why I am the best choice to be the next Mayor.

- I won't raise taxes on people struggling after the pandemic
- We will reap a windfall by developing CentrePort South
- I will seize derelict houses and have them rehabilitated so the homeless have low-cost housing
- The Police Board will be gone and so will police Chief Danny Smyth, and I will restore accountability to police leadership
- I believe Canada is the one thing that unifies us
- I am a champion for businesses big and small and for bigger paycheques for Winnipeggers

We catch up with mayoral candidate Jenny Motkaluk to find out what she feels are the main issues facing the city and how she would approach the job if elected mayor. Mike Albanese reports.

"David Runnalls suggested Murray's experience at Pembina would make him a good mayor."

Really??

By CBC -"Pembina emails suggest Murray tried to discern the source of two bullying allegations made about him during the fall of 2017, 2 months after he joined the organization... One of the two bullying complaints about Murray was logged by Pembina's ombuds director, Penelope Comette, on Nov. 1, 2017.

"An email from the (other) complainant was also sent to 8 Pembina board members, including board chair Runnalls, on Nov. 14, 2017.

"In that email, the complainant expressed "concerns about Pembina's future" and alleged a breach of confidentiality and unprofessional behaviour.

"I personally have been subject to his offensive language … and I have witnessed it with other staff. I am deeply insulted and offended by his foul language and his 'jokes,'" said the former employee, who left 2 months after Murray became executive director.

"Glen has approached me several times today about two individuals that have gone behind his back and talked against him to the board about bullying, etc.," a Pembina finance official told then chair Runnalls in an email dated Nov. 14, 2017. "He kept bringing the conversation back to these two passive aggressive individuals and looking at me for a confession which I did not volunteer."

"Wiginton and Vijayakumar are among 9 former employees or board members who have spoken to CBC about Murray's time at the Pembina Institute."

CBC headings:
Belittled for picking up child from daycare: employee
Independence undermined, ombuds director claimed
Murray resisted whistleblower training: emails
'We felt vulnerable'

"Wiginton said she found Runnalls's statement frustrating, given her experience.
"This attitude that in order to solve climate change, we should promote the people who are big talkers and have big ideas but don't pay attention to caring for people."

Winnipeg mayoral candidate Glen Murray tried to find out who made anonymous bullying complaints about him when he led the Pembina Institute, according to emails obtained by CBC News that appear to contradict Murray’s claims he was never made aware of complaints about him.

He tried to root out the whistleblowers, but Glen Murray claims "I was not aware of it"?
He is not fit to be Mayor of Winnipeg.

Mayoral candidate Glen Murray again denied knowing about bullying complaints made against him at a previous job after a report Friday alleged he tried to determine their source years before the accusations were revealed last month.

Winnipeg Free Press columnist Niigaan Sinclair spread Fake News about my campaign today to influence the Winnipeg mayoral election.

He wrote: "Motkaluk has spent more time attacking Indigenous organizations and leaders then promising anything."

If Niigaan Sinclair read his own newspaper, he would know that a month ago I promised to seize title to 780 derelict buildings and make them affordable rentals.

Did he miss it?

I stated, the single greatest act of reconciliation that I can think of is to restore dignity and hope to most marginalized indigenous neighbours. I explained that by having more affordable housing available, we will ensure that no person is left to sleep in our streets, bus shelters, and riverbanks.

Reconciliation is measured by changing people's lives, not by holding meetings, handing out awards, and issuing proclamations. My housing plan would give the homeless a roof over their head and a door that locks. He chose not to tell voters about it.

Instead Sinclair lied that I "spent more time attacking Indigenous organizations and leaders then promising anything." I issued a single press release and held 0 news conferences on AMC.

His column excluded any mention of my policy and we know why. What concerns Sinclair isn't my policy, it's how I stood up for Canada.

Anyone who says Canada should never have existed is attacking my identity, the identity of hundreds of thousands of Winnipeggers, and 37 Million Canadians.

The AMC claims that Canada Day is a celebration of genocide and colonialism. That's false.
The AMC says if people don't unconditionally agree that Canada should never have existed, reconciliation will go forward without us. That's divisive.

I am not a settler, I am not a guest, I am a Canadian.

Sinclair has never phoned me, never emailed me, and has never spoken with me. He'd rather write Fake News about me, just like he did in 2018.

I love my city, I love my country, and the AMC and Niigaan Sinclair won't bully me.
