Molasses cookies

Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F/180°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 1/2 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Add in the molasses and egg, and mix until combined.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt.

5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a dough forms.

6. Place the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar in a shallow bowl.

7. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and coat each one in the sugar.

8. Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
