I Hate Myself is a song that points out how the music industry thrives off of people with addiction issues and mental health struggles. Music often speaks through artists in times of struggle, and the industry keeps telling them that they need to make more and more in order to appease a demand. The music industry has no problem perpetuating struggle for artists because that struggle is what makes artists create music. Grind culture is prevalent in music, and while it’s been a big part of my life and practice, it’s been very detrimental to my mental health. People like me have big ideas and big dreams and the music industry makes you feel like you need to work 8-midnight every day to make it happen. Sometimes that helps, but the best part about being an artist to me is living your life and letting art speak through you when it needs to. The art that comes to you when you least expect it is guaranteed always the best s**t. I spent a lot of time trying to make my best music, but so far all of my best music has come to me after I stopped trying at all. After all, as artists, we can quit, or we can keep going, but either way there are gonna be times when we make things and there really just nothing we can do it about. I’m learning to cherish those moments and I Hate Myself is an example of me doing that. Its going up at 11 Pm Winnipeg time tonight !!! This is also maybe my fav song I’ve ever written soooooo ya
