In December of 1999, Stella’s Café & Bakery opened its doors to Winnipeg and the concept was simple; high quality ingredients, a healthy and inspired menu with everything made from scratch and friendly service.

We don't have to bake everything from scratch.

There are easier ways to run a restaurant. We could buy more products pre-made. We could reduce labour. We could simplify the process. Instead, we employ a dedicated team of bakers who start early, work hard and make the things that have become Stella's favourites over the years.

From sourdough baguettes and cookies to cakes and cinnamon buns, they're making it fresh every day.

Is it the fastest way? No. Is it the cheapest way? Definitely not.

But supporting local jobs, investing in quality ingredients and making food we're proud to serve has always mattered more to us than taking shortcuts.

And after all these years, we still think you can taste the difference. 🥖❤️

There’s a whole lot of practice behind making something look this effortless. Our multigrain sourdough is made from scratch, shaped by hand and baked fresh by the seriously skilled people in our bakery. You don’t get hands like these overnight.

Fold. Tuck. Roll. Perfect. Again.
