I just caught up on some emails and discovered the incredibly kind invitation the owner Lynn had extended to Nahko and me—a night in one of their cabins and full bellies at Naturenut Resort and Cafe. Which is located before White river. (We are in Wawa now 🤣)
My heART sank a little (and then laughed) when I realized we completely missed it. No service in the bush meant that generous note sat unread, and if I remember correctly a few days later we walked right past your place around 7 or 8 in the morning without the slightest idea of the warmth waiting for us just beyond the trees. 🤣🥹
Even tho we missed the opportunity. That offer means more than you know. In a world that often feels rushed and transactional, your spontaneous generosity—the pure “come rest, come eat, you’re welcome here”—shines like a light through the northern forest. Even though we couldn’t accept it at the time, the spirit of it has stayed with us. It reminded us that kindness still travels the back roads, that strangers can become friends with a single open door, and that places like yours keep the true heART of the North alive.
Thank you, Lynn, from the bottom of our dusty boots, paws and grateful heARTs. Thank you for seeing two wanderers and choosing to offer rest and nourishment without hesitation. We hope the cabins stay full of laughter, the café keeps serving those beautiful plates, and that the same open-heARTed energy continues to surround everyone who finds their way to you for years to come.
