When I moved to Canada at 17 years old, I was just a teenager trying to find a small part-time job and figure life out in a new country.

One day, I got an email from YEP that someone was looking for a helper. That someone was Mr. Noel. He was looking for someone who would help him at the Sidney Street Market.

Every market night felt so busy. The lineups for mini donuts seemed endless, and I remember just trying my best to keep up while learning everything along the way.

At the time, I thought it was just a small job. I never imagined it would become such a meaningful part of my life story.

Now, 13 years later, I’m married, a dad of two beautiful kids, and somehow life brought me back full circle and this summer, I get to come back to Sidney Street Market but not as the young employee behind the counter anymore, but as the owner of Noel’s Mini Donuts and Fries.

Some places will always feel like home, and Sidney Street Market will always be one of them 🙏
