Somewhere between the sound of coconut trees swaying, the smell of spices hitting hot coconut oil, and stories passed around the dinner table… there was always the word Keralam.

Long before we casually called it Kerala, it was Keralam — a name deeply rooted in the land, its people, its language, and its soul. Some say it comes from “Kera,” meaning coconut tree, and “alam,” meaning land. The land of coconuts. But for many of us, it feels like the land of memories.

At Cafe Malabar, we’ve always believed food carries language, emotion, and history with it. That’s why you’ll often hear us say Keralam in our kitchen conversations, our stories, and in the little details we hold close. Not as a statement, but as a feeling. A quiet way of staying connected to where we come from.

Because sometimes, roots aren’t loud.

This Mother’s Day evening, celebrate her with us at Cafe Malabar.

From 5 PM to 8:30 PM, we’re serving a one-day-only multi-course dinner inspired by the bold, layered flavours of the Malabar coast, reimagined through our West Coast approach.

Each guest chooses their own snack, appetizer, main, and dessert—while the table shares the experience.

This is not our regular menu, but a thoughtfully created dinner to make the evening feel special, warm, and worth remembering.
